Local COVID-19 Testing To Begin Next Week

1

(Cabinet notes)

The testing of patients using the laboratory facilities on-island will commence next week.

A trial session for training by virtual means was successfully undertaken yesterday, with the trainers in Washington, D.C. where PAHO is located.

The training will take a few days with practice sessions.

There are sufficient kits to test those who display sufficient symptoms, utilizing a set of criteria that will ensure efficiency and accuracy, and those who have been contact-traced.

There are sufficient reagents and kits, thanks to Venezuela, the People’s Republic of China, and the Treasury of Antigua and Barbuda.

The COVID-19 tests were previously  undertaken by CARPHA in Trinidad.
