Am I missing the “reaction” or me jus cya read
The second victim was pronounced to have died some 2hrs after the first victim had passed away at the hospital. Also take into consideration the travel time it took to get to the hospital I’ll say about 45minutes. This life could have. Been saved. Are there only one ambulance on the island. Could another vehicle could have been commandeered to tra me sport the individual to the hospital. There is now more than ever for an emergency medical station be erected and staffed in the Nelson Dockyard English Harbor area one with a fire truck and an ambulance. Response time to an accident is of vital importance. Besides that area I am also calling for one in the Old Road area as well as the Willikies Area. These areas have major hotels in the immediate vicinity and would be an asset to the surrounding community. I appeal to the powers that be to look into this. So that another soul is lost in that manner.
@D Jude – Even though the second person was pronounced dead 2 hours later, it does not mean that he could be saved, he more than likely died before the other one. Usually when the ambulance goes to the scene, if the person is already dead, the ambulance would not move the person. The district doctor would have to come and officially pronounce the person dead. Hence you would have that time lapse since they would not use the time that the EMT on the ambulance would consider the person dead.
The way the article is written may mislead persons.
@Normal. These were my thoughts.
The 2nd victim most likely died immediately at the scene…crushed to death under the heavy container…could not be saved……no need to transport him. However, he cannot be officially pronounced dead until seen by a medical doctor, and that will be the ‘official’ time of death.

In most other countries both the general contractor or the job project manager as well as the subcontractor would be charged with negligible and man slaughter.
Where are the safety regulations that would have prevented such a tragedy? This is another case where the government has no standards or the safety regulations. If there are job site and occupational hazard standards; this tragedy confirms they are not being enforced being adhered to.
Yet another policy failure of a government which demonstrates the government thinking that there is no human value in the working poor.
An Arab is killed on the job; the entire country is outraged to the point where the incompetent AG Cutie Benjamin ( what a name?) is proposing reinstalling draconian measures.
Two Blackmen are are killed on the job as a result of poor Government regulations and negligence on behalf the contractors… No outrage, no marches, no protests, no meeting with Government officials.
Is this racism; or is it an illustration and confirmation of the that black peoples in Antigua and Barbuda are powerless?
Sue THE company and mawlwyn Joseph, you know that pathetic bag of wind that so called health Minister. Should be at least three ambulances by now.
