Prime Minister Gaston Browne says two separate opinion polls indicate that his ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) is on course for victory in the next general election, with a significant lead over the opposition.
Speaking on Pointe FM moments ago, Browne referenced a survey conducted by Don Anderson, which he said shows the ABLP with “a support base of over 40%,” compared to around 20% for the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP).
He added that the remaining voters are largely undecided, but that those backing the UPP are doing so out of loyalty rather than confidence in leadership or policies.
Browne also cited a second poll conducted by Peter Wickham, which he said measured leadership approval and voter preference in a key constituency.
According to the Prime Minister, the poll shows he holds a 58% leadership approval rating, compared to 14% for Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle.
The same survey reportedly found that 70% of respondents preferred Browne as Prime Minister, while Pringle received 10% support and former opposition leader Harold Lovell received 8%.
Browne further pointed to constituency-level data, saying a majority of voters in St. Mary’s North and South viewed opposition candidates as ineffective, while another result suggested 57% support for ABLP candidate Maria Bird-Browne in one race.
The Prime Minister argued that undecided voters typically break in favor of leading parties, suggesting the ABLP could widen its advantage as the election approaches.

Dear People of Antigua and Barbuda,
As we stand on the cusp of another election, we must pause and reflect on the direction our nation is headed. For nearly eight years, the Antigua Labour Party has held power, and now, after just two short years since the last election, a snap election is upon us. The timing raises questions, and the stakes have never been higher.
We must look beyond party affiliations and see the stark reality of our daily lives. Yes, the current government wields power, and yes, they have the resources—money, influence, and access—that often sway voters. But we cannot be blinded by short-term gains. We see it on our roads—they crumble beneath us. We feel it in our pockets—a 40% hike in SUV licensing fees, unfairly targeting those with older cars. We suffer in our hospitals—our MRI machine lies broken, and the trust we place in our healthcare is shattered. And we feel the isolation—the inability to travel because of a tainted citizenship program.
I ask you, fellow Antiguans and Barbudans: is this the future we want? If we vote simply out of familiarity or fear of change, we doom ourselves to another cycle of neglect. Our anthem calls us to stand together: “Fair Antigua and Barbuda.” But fairness means ensuring every citizen thrives, not just those who cling to power. It means demanding roads, healthcare, and opportunity for all, not just a select few.
We must wake up—no longer be placated by handouts or fleeting promises. Let us vote for the Antiguan and Barbudan future we deserve: one of justice, health, and prosperity. Enough is enough. The time for change is now.
There is no poll by any credible pollster producing these results.
It did not even say internal polls which are designed to be bias.
Gaston Browne thinks the media is in the tank for him and the people are to stupid so they accept and report falsehoods.
Gaston yall have some work to do in Swetes and Old Road, get Pringle out please and Shuggy needs to go too
But 150% prefer Lovell or even malaka parker or Richard lewis as prime minister, you have the government arms to fashion yourself a leader, it was the government resources in passport you flashed flamboyantly for sale to terrorist that caused us to lose visa free travel to canada and now banned from the USA, even your poles stooge John was given his set of passports to go sell and enrich himself.
Nobody wants you Gaston you are just using the state resources and monies from PLH and mill reef and jumby bay and hadeeds to prop up yourself against others who can’t afford to display wealth at this time.
Power is like ice in the sun it will eventually leave you.

I’m in total agreement with your sentiments @Reverse Psychology. Antigua & Barbuda are on a perpetual political and propaganda wash cycle under Gaston Browne’s ABLP; and sadly the majority of ABLP supporters are happy to continue, without visualising the long-term harm to democracy.
This cycle of soaking the people with endless FREEBIES; then washing them up with plenty of PROMISES, and then rinsing them with so many INDUCEMENTS, and then repeat come the next by-election or General Election, that no opposition can compete with.
You are correct in pointing out that “…the stakes have never been higher…”
If, as it seems, that the ABLP are predicted to win, those of us who can sell up, move out and use our skill set to move where there’s less home invasions, daylight robberies, less attacks on our women folk, and don’t the ever growing rise in gun crimes (which isn’t being addressed) will do so.
As a well travelled Antiguan, I’m definitely now weighing up my other options…
I just feel sorry for those who can’t!
Have a blessed day 🙏🏾
Again, maybe the Diaspora ambassador Dr. Dave Ray was right all along by not coming back to live in Antigua…
He must have had a futuristic crystal ball🔮 to correctly visualise the demise of this once peaceful and homely country.
