The Administrator for LIAT, Cleveland Seaforth, says all governments in the region will be asked to write off debts owed by the carrier.

Seaforth told ABS News that this accounts for nearly a third of the over EC$300 million in liabilities on the airline’s books.

“We have spoke to the employees through their unions, we have spoken to a number of stakeholders, some of the creditors we’ve been having discussions with them and we continue to do so,” Seaforth said.

“We have also, so far, been speaking with potential investors who have expressed an interest in coming onboard.”

  1. And is the administrator suggesting thousands of hard working Caribbean nationals waiting on ticket refunds should also be “written off” & not repaid?
Liat has ‘borrowed’ our money, interest-free; can we collectively be seen as a ‘lending conglomerate’ & therefore have preferred repayment status?

  2. LIAT should owe this administrator for his work and when the liquidation process is completed it should be written off. However, it is very likely that the administrator is being paid in cash, not even cheque and on a weekly or monthly basis. He himself would not take the chance of allowing LIAT have any debt with him.

  3. And what do the governments get in return? What about the ticket holders. Are governments just going to absorb LIAT debt?

  4. Mr Administrator, dude, you are up a creek without a paddle. You know you have been given a hopeless job, so just earn you big fat pay check by trying to organise how LIAT is going to get out of the money-owing business. You are joining with our top dog with foolish talk of re-flying LIAT planes. It is not going to happen. We forgive you if you draw out the work so you could get more pay, but forget the soon will be flying story. People are not as dumb as they used to be. Here’s a secret. Everybody now has access to Google and internet.

  5. In my opinion,LIAT should not pay you one Red Cent. They should write off your service as gratis.I wondered how you would feel.Do you think those Governments in the region.Could just write off a combined $300 million.Without discussing it with their citizenry. That would be a very unwise move.If they were to do so without input from them.

  6. Alert saints point werk and Black you all have good points as much the Administrator
Is talking not one word about repayment of the ticket holders from the period of lockdown till we heard that LIAT was closing down Ralph gonsalves say during that period LIAT collected over 11 million dollars from ticket sales where is the people money who is responsible for it witch BANK is responsible for it that money should have been freeze from Day one so that no body could touch it my belief is when everything is said and done not one red CENT of that money can be found.
