Prime Minister Gaston Browne has revealed that LIAT 2020 will take on the financial responsibilities associated with the LIAT 1974 Limited brand.
Browne emphasized that LIAT 2020, the revitalized version of its predecessor, will not be burdened by legacy issues from the pandemic-induced downturn.
He dismissed speculations of legal disputes over liability transfer, asserting that such notions were baseless.
Furthermore, Browne stated that LIAT 2020 would pay for the brand name, underscoring their faith in it, despite the company’s liquidation.
He also disclosed that the Antiguan government would acquire and provide aircraft for LIAT 2020, facilitating its operations.

Once again, in my opinion the PM is trying to put some money into LIAT 1974 so that they can pay the workers some money.
All that is not necessary. Make your contribution outside of LIAT 1974 deal. Do it as a moral obligation. Barbados did it. Why will you give LIAT 1974 more than the other shareholders are willing to put in? Just purchase the assets at liquidated rate. $0.10 on the $1.00.
And Mr. Pime Minister the very same Union that is fighting you will be in line to get their Union Negotiating Fees. They did the same thing when you paid the severance to the Jolly Beach workers. They should not benefit in any way shape or form from any financial agreement you make with the workers in the end. Keep them out.
