Dear Editor,
Wednesday June 5, 2023 could be considered a red letter day here in Antigua. I say a Red letter day not because of any political persuasion but because the day was made notable due to the surprised judgement of the long awaited outcome of the court case between Shuggy & Samantha.
It is quite clear that the judgement of the case was not what the majority of the populace expected, solely because there was a constitutional violation which seems not to be taken into consideration for adjudication.
Obviously the judge’s decision is final and hence should be respected regardless of one’s opinion.
However, the question has resonated in many persons’ minds, did the judge err?
The judge In her wisdom saw it fit to make a ruling to have the case dismissed which I understood it to be based on Shuggy’s resignation from the sacred halls of our parliament.
Interestingly, his resignation has now triggered a bi-election.
According to the court’s ruling, I am yet to comprehend as to why UPP has considered it to be a victory for them.
Initially, Shuggy’s resignation clearly indicated that something went wrong at the time he was voted into office and so, from the constant pressure from Samantha & her team, it appears that on his own admission Shuggy decided to resign.
Was this not an act of a guilty conscience?
At the same time, kudos should be given to Samantha & her ABLP team for forcing Shuggy to acknowledge his wrong doings and hence get him to throw in his towel.
However, it is sad to see that there was no penalty for his actions of the constitutional offense he committed.
Be that as it is, I forsee the outcome of the bi-election swaying towards Samantha.
The amount of work done in her constituency is a clear testimony of her love & concern that she has for the people therein.
Furthermore, the statistical data from the last general election clearly shows that Samantha/ABLP has a better support base than what Shuggy/UPP has, but unfortunately for some unknown reason many chose not to vote.
This time around, from my vantage point the bi-election temperature is definitely rising.
For the love of their constituency and for the gratitude & acknowledgement of the development that Samantha has done for the St. Mary’s South constituency, I am of the view that the majority of the Labour party supporters within the constituency will be answering the clarion call and will be going out in full numbers this time around to give Samantha the support that she truly & honestly deserves.
Of course, there is no doubt that this bi-election is a keen one to watch….
There are many laughters & celebrations taking place at the moment in both the red & blue corners.
However, according to what I am seeing on the ground, it is very likely that the red corner may get the last & best laugh..

Hmmm
Propaganda 101
Only time will tell
🤔
Remember the phrase 17 none.
All I will say to the writer is this:
EMPTY VESSELS MAKE THE MOST NOISE!
Unfortunately I have not seen the actual Judges decision. Not sure if I just missed it’s appearance in the tabloids or if it has just not been printed . Could someone provide a printed version of the decision or point to where it is already displayed. At this point I refuse to go with someone else’s interpretations when they are laced with favoritism. Let’s get the straight story and we can decide for ourselves .
The reality is,the judge had to dismissed the case because Kelvin Simon resign. If he was still a member of parliament ,then the case would have been heard in it’s totality . If I took a person to court for non payment and before the case the monies owed to me was paid , obviously it would be dismissed . The issue already been settled .
What again has Samantha done for her constituency????
NOTHING,SHE NEED FA JUS QUITE N FIX UP HERSELF.ITS REALLY A THING SHE WAH GET WAP AGAIN IN ELECTION……N TALK ABOUT APPEARANCE.WAH MAKE SHE LOOK SO
.
You are entitled to your opinion @ Alex, but with respect sir, there have just been too many questionable situations in recent times in Antigua, where the government has tried to override with QUESTIONABLE interference, that has circumvented our laws; democracy; and especially enquiries that were deemed fit for further investigations.
However, with the PM’s undoubted PERCEIVED influences on the judiciary, his inner circle (that seems to go along with whatever he says or does – whether right or wrong), and also not forgetting his self-enriched buddies, at home and abroad.
This government must always be held accountable, after being given another term of office – don’t you agree?
Remember Alex, when the people are scared of the politicians that is TYRANNY, but when the politicians are scared of the people, that’s a DEMOCRACY!
However, I do accept your right to your opinion sir …
The UPP and their rapidly declining followers are so desperate for a win that any crumb they are handed is considered a delicious meal.
How can going back through the rigors of an election, with the possibility of a loss be a win for Shugy?
If Shugy regains the seat, so what?
It gains the UPP NOTHING.
Just pure dunceness.
It’s a financial burden on the people of Antigua and Barbuda and a financial burden on the entire UPP party. People don’t give contributions to failed parties with no prospect of a win. So Harold and his desperados will have to sell lots of fish & lemonade to finance this election that was already won by a moron who couldn’t follow the election rules.
Pure rubbish.
If Shugy had done things the right way in the first place he could have been enjoying his 5 year term milking the people of Antigua monthly.
He’s the least performing / contributing Parliamentarian to date.
The people of St Mary’s South needs to send a strong message to little boys who want to play political games with them and whose votes they take for granted. Shugy isn’t welcomed anymore. It’s time for a real woman to get the job done.
@ A Friend of The Analyst
U want something in your mouth to suck on.
Moving right along – just another Antiman Alex article showing his love for ABLP
Ahahaha…funny!
@ A Friend of the Analyst
Lol, you sound real funny and stupid- were you also duped by Gaston and The Speaker.
Seems like all you minions enjoy being duped, lol
Again @ A Friend of the Analyst, like the writer of this UNBALANCED And rather BIASED piece, you are also entitled to your opinion, that’s what a VIBRANT democracy is all about.
Have a great day @ A Friend of the Analyst … 🤜🏽🤜🏽
… 🤜🏽🤛🏽
There is no law that stated Shuggy should have resigned BEFORE his nomination. If you have evidence to the contrary, please present it? Just because that’s what all other civil servants did in the past doesn’t make it law. Precedent is NOT Law!! The fact that the ALP will now have to go into parliament and put something in place to prevent this from occuring in the future CLEARLY demonstrates that there was NO Law prohibiting it in the first place.
P.S: The constant lying and spinning are turning supporters like myself and others I know OFF.
The Time To Stop It Is Now!
Hey Friend… you sound bitter. I hope that you are as concerned with the wasting of money by the ALP government. Long diatribe that makes no sense.
And as usual – love watch man clothes and physical appearance, buy vaccine card, scammer, beggy J’Truth a run he mouth on Facebook like he know it all.
Red can’t dead!!
By any means necessary the UPP is trying to gain power. Surprisingly and I am sure my ears did not deceive me that it was recently mentioned in the last of UPP’s meeting that the St. Phillip North constituency will be targeted next…. ABLP & their supporters need to be prepared. It is very evident that they are wishing a misfortune to happen in the St. Phillip North constituency so that another bi election can take place.
@ Bluddy Bloke
I am beginning to think that you guys have NO SHAME.
You come up with all sort of hearsay. You guys are like woman; why don’t you change your sex?
“By any means necessary the UPP is trying to gain power …”
Bluddy Bloke, have you lost your damn mind?
All right minded autochthonous Antiguans want is a Prime Minister that put citizens first, and your mate Gaston Browne is isn’t up to it.
It is not about ABLP supporters being prepared, and prepared for what?
Don’t you know the difference between good leadership and self-enrichment? Obviously not!
We want Gaston out, not the demolition of the ABLP you ignorant fool!
Whether you support ABLP, UPP or the DNA, all we require is good governance of the country we love.
WE ARE LOVERS NOT FIGHTERS …
Why do they perceive it as a win? Shugy’s lawyers argued their points and got what they wanted.
The govt and petitioners lawyers did not get what they wanted….is it a win for them?? Like talk sense please.
Remember Shugy’s votes were to be transferred to Samantha by the court. They did not get that. Is it a win for them?
Will wait for your follow up query as to why Shugy beating Samantha even more is considered a win by UPP.
Remember Gaston was sure Rawdon would win I guess Rawdon losing should be perceived as as a win for Gaston by this logic of opposite perception.
@dan take the tike to go and read the transcript. Suggys initial request was for the court to rule this was not a matter for the court.the court denied his request , suggy then resigned to avoid a trail.
TENMAN TENMAN you never cease to amaze me. You say that Shugy’s initial request was for the court to rule that the matter was not one for the court. TENMAN the judge in her decision noted that the matter was not JUSTICIABLE. Please ask your legal icon Sir Gerald what that word means.
Cashworth Aaron has betrayed the people of St. Mary’s South by allowing Samantha to use him as a scapegoat.
Time for him to relocate.
It is very clear that UPP is an organization that attracts unscrupulous elements…
A man who studied theology is now among the wolves in sheep’s clothing and has began to create chaos in this country…… Some thing does not appear to be right …. I am begining to believe that UPP is really a cult. When something looks like a fish, smells like a fish then there is no doubt that it has to be a fish..
Talk facts and nor nonsense @ Bluddy Bloke, you can see the tide turning against this terrible and nefarious government and you not sure how to react to their slump from autochthonousAntiguans.
Oh, by the way, I love snapper 🐠
@ Bluddy Bloke
Anyone that is a threat to Gaston and the ABLP you minions attack mercilessly because you feel threatened.
YOU AND GASTON JUST BITTER because Shuggy resigned and did not give the ABLP the chance to manipulate the court/judge to award Samantha the seat!
GIVE UP YOUR BITTERNESS MAN FOR A CHANGE.
In the words of Shuggy ‘ they don’t like me, because they try to buy me out’, ‘they offer me money and senatorship’ to come over to the ABLP. But Shuggy did not sell his SOUL, like people like Judas for thirty pieces of silver or:
– Melford
– Goodwin
– Joanne
– Imhorf
– Derrick
– Namba
– Jonas
– Young
– Lamming
– Collin
– Evergreen and the lists just keep on going.
Shuggy is a principled man and CANNOT BE BOUGHT OR SOLD and that is EATING OUT THE PM who thinks he can get anyone he wants.
Bitterness causes disease so be careful of your health you DUPED USEFUL IDIOT.
Twist it and turn it as you will, the judges decision is in, and it is final. This decision is a win for democracy. This is not so much about UPP or ALP, or Kelvin Simon, although it is to some extent, but it’s about the ALP led by idiotic Gaston Browne, along with what the Labourites are calling “the 1000 watt Bulb,” trying to deceive the people (they managed to deceive the Labourites) and an attempt at nullifying the decisions of the voters from St. Mary’s South.
Only we, the sovereign born, patriotic citizens of Antigua, saw through the shenanigans. it IS a great victory for UPP because they outsmarted and outwitted the ALP and its minions and Labourites.
It is really amusing to hear the Labourites on the airways crying foul and spouting some of the most nonsensical, idiotic, things. My, if only they would read, instead of swallowing all the garbage that Gaston Browne et al emit daily like toxic waste.
Never forget tenman and others lauding the 1000 watt bulb for his deception. Now they all must take the embarrassment as they call for the head of Gerald Watts.
Let me say this straight up. This is not an opinion by this writer, this is another propaganda spin that is designed to distract the voters of Saint Mary south, don’t fall for this Garbage.
Here are the facts of this entire thing (not opinion).
The win wasn’t what the judge decided, the win was what the people of Saint Mary south decided the day they voted for Shuggy Simon and beat that other candidate(Marshall) by 199 votes, that was the big win here, big big win, so this judge decision is not a win, it was just a big waste of time and waste of tax payers money.
The case shouldn’t have been heard in the first place and was forced upon the courts with full knowledge that it would fail. But here we are with this dumb writer again trying to make a story out of something that shouldn’t be even a story.
This Government is like a one trick pony 🐴, they get up on their hind legs only to get a better angle to piss in your face.
Let’s get back to the Antigua Airways fiasco and find out what the hell went on with that entire mess. But I guess this Government are hoping that we forget about the immigration catastrophe that it cause, hoping we forget about it with time.
St Mary south is in Safe Hands with Mr Simon, I’m not a politician, but there is a few things I’m good at, and one of them is knowing when people are blowing air up people’s arse, and that’s what this Writer is doing.
But continue. 😆
