LETTER: Why does it take so long to get an autopsy done in Antigua?

1. They have only 1 so far as I know. Dr. Simon. I’m honestly curious if they’d consider in the near future hiring a second or part time pathologist or assistant to him. As I may be interested. If the $ is there, others would come. There are plenty of recent medical graduates of IMG and US who didn’t match and looking for jobs, some in Pathology. If help is what that department needs, those of us who studied medicine wolf like to know.

     There is more than one pathologist at the hospital. However, what the country of Antigua is experiencing is what it deserves . It’s not lack of anything tangible, it’s purely lack of vision.

6. My mom died in St.Kitts on the 3rd of April 2024. Her autopsy was scheduled for the 8th of April and was rescheduled for the 10th of April, solely because, I needed to fly there to present the relevant documentation. On the 10th April at 7.30am the autopsy was conducted. By 9.30am thereabouts the autopsy results were dialoged with us. This gave us closure . By the time the funeral home attendants came for my mom’s remains, the death certificate was ready and handed to them upon my request.
   This process enabled us to come to terms with her death as opposed to guessing.

7. My step children’s Mom died last year Mac. The jouneyed to Antigua to make the relevant arrange ments and to travel back home. April passed; nothing happened. May passed and still nothing! One was in school the other was eorking. They both jeopardized their school and work. I had to intervene and solivt the help of some high end people. Needless to say, what was not done in months was done in two days! Why? Fix the system em! It is not working!
