Jolly beach staff in union meeting September 2020

Why are the Jolly Beach employees being treated like this?

Jolly Beach Resort and Spa has been closed down now going on nearly a year due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The staff are due their severance payments and yet nothing is being done except empty promises.

  1. I don’t know why you think that Jolly Beach workers are been treated differently than any other wofkers who went through the same situation before. Perhaps you should ask your union representative why he mislead you to believe that this would be an easy road. Stanford workers had to wait for nine years and others are still waiting. Some people die and leave their severance behind for their next of kin.
Yes it is a right, but what good is a right if there is no money to payout.
In my opinion this law need to be taken of te books. Time for a National Privately Held Pension Plan and or an volentary Un-employment Insurance plan
Unless a company cannot on a yearly basis expense severance expenses and tgdreby set aside funds in an escrow account like how Thrift Funds operate you will find that shen a company closes there is no money to pay severance. Look at Liat. Broke. And when preferential creditors take what is theirs nothing is left for payment of severance.
