I am writing as a long-standing and committed supporter of the party, and I do so with a level of frustration and disappointment that I can no longer ignore.
I am deeply troubled by the confusion surrounding who is actually leading the UPP. This uncertainty has now crossed a line into something far more serious. Recently, Harold Lovell came to my home presenting himself as the leader and seeking my support. The man should know me, and I did not tell him who I was. That encounter
was not only unwelcome, but it also felt sneaky, dishonest, misleading and completely out of touch with the reality that many of us understand. My household does not stan for that.
Let me be clear: my support has been firmly with Jamal Pringle — someone I know personally, someone I went to school with, and someone I believe represents a more honest and grounded direction for the party. To have that loyalty disregarded and undermined in such an unscrupulous manner is unacceptable.
I will not resort to childish name-calling or say that Mr. Lovell is a
“punk” or a “wimp,” as others including my friend Joane. However, I will say this plainly — his actions come across as deceptive, sneaky and fraudulent. That kind of behavior is exactly why the party finds itself in disarray today. A lack of transparency, internal confusion, and what appears to be power struggles are eroding the very foundation of what we are supposed to stand for.
What is most disappointing is that I was prepared to put aside my personal reservations. I was willing to swallow my pride and vote for what I considered the worst option, simply for the sake of unity and
progress. But after witnessing this level of deception firsthand, I have made my decision.
I will not be voting.
This is not a decision I take lightly. It is the result of deep frustration, disappointment, and a loss of confidence in the people from the Lovell’s faction and direction they want to take the party. If things continue on this path, I fear many others will come to the same conclusion.
You cannot expect loyalty from supporters while operating in a manner that breeds distrust.

Everyone is not as shallow as you are. I have no dog in this fight Lovell or Pringle.
You support for Pringle is based on:
Jamal Pringle — someone you know personally, someone you went to school with, and someone you believe represents a more honest and grounded direction for the party.
I may admit Lovell is a wimp. Neither of them makes for good leadership.
Their leadership would be as disastrous as has been Gaston Browne and the ALBP.
It is the pervasive ignorance you expressed why selfishness and incompetence become the primary trait required to be a politician in Antigua and Barbuda.
It is lack of emotional intelligence that drives you and others to vote against your best interests and write vacuous statements that make you feel good while the politicians piss and declare it rain.
When you go to church on Saturday or Sunday the man or woman in the pulpit is partly responsible.
Tell them to stop collaborating with the politicians against your welfare.
Look, the ABLP has everything going for them at present, and with Gaston leading the charge for another General Election win towards Antigua becoming an authoritarian state.
And all their supporters keep doing is moan and groan about Harold Lovell and Jamal Pringle.
How on earth do winners sound like utter losers and deadbeats?

If you look at what are the characteristics of an authoritarian state, Antigua and Barbuda already functions as an author authoritarian state.
The question is how do we become a vibrant democracy?
Look to your Constitution. The model given to these islands works for the British but does not work for us.
It creates a dog eat dog society. A society in which we all know each other and everyone is attempting to keep up with the Jones.
Keeping up with Jones creates a dog eat dig social interaction.
Individuals and politicians do not excel in this Country based on their unique abilities and merit.
They excel in their ability to create negative thoughts about others.
The society values them; whether in small setting
or in the public space.
If the Vice Chancellor of UWI Five Islands offers a thoughtful article on local or regional matters; there are no comments on these pages.
If the Prime Minister offered a disparaging statement about his opponents there numerous comments.
Until the Ecumenicals and other Civil Society groups addresses the issue of the lack of tolerance, and our practice of tearing each other down; leading to an awakening.
This Country will continue to be stagnant, and it serves the political interests of the elite and their allies.
Make no mistake. We are already an authoritarian state. It is that very reason why no individual publicly states it, or writes about it.

For the life of me I cannot understand how anyone can sit there with a straight face and say Antigua has been a place of hope and dreams in just the past 6 years.
I’m not even going back further than, because there are enough head scratching events that has happened in this island in the last 6 years that will make any moral person question their morality.
The youth are lost, totally lost, and here we are praising the very people who are responsible for the mess.
If Pringle and the rest of the UPP is as corrupt as these guys who are now running the island, well nothing more to do but just sit back and watch Antigua go to the dogs.
I already predicted it some 5 years ago, but that doesn’t mean redemption cannot beat thing for the island of Antigua.

One of the biggest problem the UPP is facing is CORRECTIONS. Whenever someone say something about the UPP, Instead for them to look at it and see if any truth in it and make the necessary corrections, they just turn around and brand you an ABLP supporter. Time will tell and may the one with the most votes on election night, win this election.

The positions being taken by commentators here is illustrative that the politicians have a mindset among the people, where they fight each other for their politicians.
It’s not new it’s generational. These people have been brainwashed to think that’s the only way for them to get ahead is to fight and fight for their political tribe.
Any redemption towards building a wholesome community begins with a changing mindset.
And who is going to do so?
Christianity fostered the crab in a barrel state of mind. The preachers will suttlely and overtly use this Christian weekend to reinforce the Goodness of ABLP.
Just like the politicians they benefit from a system and its processes and therefore they actively promote and support that system.
Those men and women of God will never tell their flocks to reach out and come together with their political adversaries.
To do so will make us less tribal. Tribalism is the feeding ground for their messsge to be delivered.

Knight did not interview Lovell because he did not want to have to ask him the hard questions and have him tell him again that he was “uncomfortable”.

Your answer about the non-nationals was all wrong. You have not learnt, after 3 losses, that your strategy about them is not a winning one. You believe if you leave them alone when they suddenly turn up in your constituency and you do not challenge their right to vote then maybe they will vote for you.
