LETTER: Was it a picket or a protest?

18

DEAR EDITOR:

Was it a picket or a protest? So we’re protesting or picketing against the way in which the Africans can stay here?

Question: What’s human trafficking? A lot of you go to strip clubs right? The females that’s dancing, came here on documents saying they are waitresses, bartenders, etc. But hold on, if the club owner holds on to their passports what do you call that?

Let us not forget that a certain media personality went to Canada then “seeking asylum, saying we in Antigua fighting down that person’s sexual preference.”

A lot of folks will cuss at this point, but you folks have a problem with the Africans but not the plane load of Jamaicans coming to Antigua three times a week.

Why not speak about the UK  and USA and the Middle East folks who come to Antigua and buy land and driving up the cost of lands in certain areas. (Lemme guess. Cause of their skin color we have nothing to say right?)

To the UPP. Where was this energy to stand with the parents at CHSS? Again where’s the energy to stand with the prison staff and inmates and remanded persons for the conditions of 1735?

But you wanna protest or picket against the way in which refugee status may be given? U know how long me a try learn fu mek fufu. Now the Africans here fufu till me tired.

UPP since y’all wanna protest or pickett something try this. All them tyre places who selling used at nearly the same price of a new tyre.

The usual suspect

  1. Hypocrite. Dirty lying Hypocrites. A quick DNA test of Pringle with his shade of BLACK would trace back to the same “MAMA AFRICA”

He looking to PAPPYSHOW himself as party “leader” but just WAIT TIL CONVENTION……..he go ever regret!!!!

    • Writer of the letter the picket or protest or whatever you choose to call it, is not about the way in which the Africans are to stay here. You seem to be very uninformed and misguided. The fundamental issue is the establishment of Antigua Airways by Gaston, Marvelous Mike and other Nigerian fraudsters and how it was used to move our poor African brothers and sisters from Nigeria to Antigua. I will contend that much money was generated and passed in this undertaking and you can ask Gaston about it and if he got any. The Africans here, especially those from the Cameroon, are eligible for Refugee status and not many people are against that.

    • I am in agreement that they were pappy showing themselves to get public attention… It is very obvious that they have not accepted the results of the election. Clearly BLOW NA EASY… IT MEK DEM UPP NEGGA ACT LIKE CLOWNS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN…. PURE JOKER SPADES DEM BE.

  2. Wow! Here’s 3 words to sum up this unintelligible editorial letter @ The Usual Suspect:

    Inarticulate, incoherent and indecipherable.

HOWEVER, 10 OUT OF 10 FOR DEFLECTING FROM THE ABLP’S CURRENT TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS ABOUT WHY, OR HOW THE AFRICANS MANAGED TO ARRIVE HERE IN THE FIRST INSTANCE – NICE ONE 👍

You sound like an ABLP operative …

  3. Mr. INTERIM leader you have both a PICKET and a PROTEST being orchestrated against you from WITHIN the upp. it-s no secret. u would be foolish to feign ignorance and think the majority in your own party even happy for you much less support you. You get mocked and undermined since before the elections.

Brewing as we speak is Bowen, Serpent et al plotting to remove Pringle as the “leader”

One already declared “NO LIKKLE BWOY A RULE ME”

    Stay tuned……..

  4. Richard Lewis sounds like how he looks

    ZERO personality
    ZERO backbone

at least Pringle aggressive even tho he aint the sharpest tool in the shed

  5. The Hootsie & the Tootsie. George Bush took in thousands of them & put them in Upstate N.Y.

why UPP hates Africans, especially those fleeing civil war?

    • @ Have Mercy

Writer of the letter the picket or protest or whatever you choose to call it, is not about the way in which the Africans are to stay here. You seem to be very uninformed and misguided. • @Have Mercy: UPP hate foreigners on a whole… Don’t forget what derogative things they said about our Caribbean brothers and sisters…… Now they are attacking our African brothers & Sisters…. It is very strange that they are not attacking the caucasian, chinese or Arabic persons? Is UPP badminded, envious or racist?

  6. Mr. Lovell sounds confusing when he speaks. So he wouldn’t be much help to Pringle either
Half the time he sounds like he just crawled out of bed
Bold face say WHEN YOU NUH KNOW, YOU JUST NUH KNOW. Poor Pringle. He is a perfect example of why we ought not elect persons base on likability. He lacks intellectual substance.
He doesn’t do his homework before going into Parliament. That’s why he sounds so ignorant.

  7. To the writer, The Usual Suspect, and all you laborites who are so so so off base with your comments:
    YOU ALL TOO FU-FU, FU-FU, FU-FU, Fool-ee!

  8. Why don’t educated, professional and Intellectual people run for political office in Antigua like they do in other countries especially for the opposition? This was not the case before Gaston Browne. He has reduced politics to the lowest common denominator, that the people who should be advancing this country are staying away from politics. There is no prosperity for Antiguans while Gaston and the labour government is running Antigua. For them the priority is, what’s in it for them.
They almost lost the election because a lot of the non nationals they were depending on did not vote and most likely a lot of the Guyanese returned home. Guyana with its oil revenue is the future, not poor Antigua.

  9. Just another lame attempt at distraction and misdirection. Just throw this nonsense out there and it serves as garbage for the Laborites to pounce on with all sorts of mudslinging and the continual character assassination. As usual, the facts stare them in the face, but to no avail.
The intent of the picket is to send notice to this administration that they will not be able to just blow smokescreens and expect it to go away. The world watches, and that in and of itself is very disconcerting to rational thinking people. Melford Nicholas continues to spurt all sorts of incredible, made-up sh*t, expecting us to just take his nonsense as truth. Well, we demand answers, one way or the other.

    • I am wondering how much ALP paid the buffoon , the letter writer to forward the incoherent letter.

The presence of the Africans in Antigua and Barbuda is illegal: initially, they were described as rich tourists, where is the evidence of that? They arrived in Antigua without evidence of confirmed addresses, evidence of visas. The chief immigration officer facilitate their landing and were waived through immigration.

The Nigerian who worked at the Ministry of Argiculture used a government vehicle at 2AM to assist a “friend”! They were then described as intransit travellers, heading ultimately for the US, where is the evidence of that?

Now they are seeking refuge for fear of persecution in their own country, where is the supporting evidence to collaborate their claims, why didn’t they make their claims at the time of arriving in Antigua, also, Cameroon shares a border with Nigeria, why didn’t they claim refugee in Nigeria?

The Republic of Cameroon was a French colony why have they not applied to the French for Refuge? They are all bogus asylum seekers and they all should be removed from our shores and return to whatever part of Africa they come from.

It’s indisputable, Caribbeans, today has its roots in West Africa. West African countries are never quick to recognise Caribbeans as their “brothers and sisters”, they often refer to us as “slave babies “, the Ghanaians mostly regard us as such.

I defy anyone advocating for the Africans to stay in Antigua to try and go to Nigeria, Cameroon or any West African country in the same manner as they have and let us see the outcome. Additionally, I defy any Antiguan to travel to Lagos and try and move around Lagos as freely as they are doing in Antigua, infact, if you get out of the airport complex safely that would be a bonus.

I have been to Nigeria several times, on one of my visit, I visited Badagry, which was the slave port, I went there because I wanted to see the “point of no Return” and to get an idea of the commencement of the slave ancestors journey, In broad daylight and in the presence of the town’s Oba (local King) I was robbed by one of so-called tour guide. The Oba saw what was going on,he said nothing and did nothing to stop the robbery. I had to take a firm stance with the robber to get my money back, as they was no point calling the police, as they wouldn’t attend and they are equally as corrupt as the entire system.

The most worrying thing with the African presence in Antigua is the operation of Boko Harm a terrorist group that operates in Northern Nigeria that shares a border with Cameroon . The terrorist group that kidnapped in excess of 200 girls from their boarding school, the girls were raped, some were returned to their parents, but most are still missing. The Nigerian government has not been able to diffused that terrorist group, conversely Antigua government cannot confirm that they have not allowed terrorist elements from Boko Haram into Antigua. ALP cannot account for 300 who apparently have gone missing…we have been here before have we not, whit Choski?

The actions of ALP is reckless and foolhardy, they have put our safety and security at sever risk, as well as the Caribbean basin and ultimately the US.

Antiguans have enjoyed visa free to the UK and European countries, but in light of ALP’s handling of the CIP programme and the Afican fiasco, the British government has intimated to Gaston Browne and the director for the CIP that visa free to the UK might be revoked because the British has a duty to keep their borders safe. The British are watching to see how ALP handled the mess they have caused with the Africans and thereafter we will see the British and other European response.

Antiguans should not close their eyes to the corruption and embarrassment the ALP has committed against our ‘motherland ‘ Antigua.

  10. Here’s a Question:

Is ‘Marvellous Mike’ related to Gaston Browne, Max Fernández, Chet Greene or Colin James?

    Joking aside, he must be!

How on earth did he manage to hoodwink our ABLP ministers and pull this farcical airline nonsense off?!

The man’s either a financial wizard or – once again -, the ABLP government didn’t carry out any due diligence.

No wonder the printer Mike sees himself as MARVELLOUS …

    • Brixtonian,
They are of the same meat, just different gravy! Both are equally as corrupt and crooked as each other.

Imagine Browne, Fernández, Greene James settled with “Marvellous Mike” 80:20, 80 % profit from Antigua Airways to Marvellous Mike and 20% to Antigua. If I believe in obah I would be inclined to think that “Marvellous Mike” must have put them all under a spell for them to agreed to that nonsensical agreement and in return we ended up with planes full of asylum seekers!! Where is Antigua’s profit? They are a pack of jokers.

  11. Avatar photo Writer, having land prices increase (and i mean drastically) is not a bad thing for this country... It means equity in people's pocket.

The only reasonable comment in the article…
