LETTER: The ABLP Administration LIES & Deception on Olivers Village Water Access/Housing Project

Dear Editor,

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda announced that 12 houses have been completed in Oliver’s out of the 600 homes planned for that area. I live very nearby to the said housing project. I drove to the area where the houses are being built behind of LICS Ltd on All Saints Road yesterday afternoon.

When I reached and walked the whole area on foot of the housing project, NONE of the houses were completed. I counted 9 houses the walls are coming up from the foundation and also, they were not plastered or painted and they were without windows. The other 3 homes to be constructed are at the foundation stated with the foundation not even casted, they seemed in the process of laying steel, putting in plumbing and laying electrical pipes.

Furthermore, I noticed that there ALOT more cisterns covered with grass than houses in the foundation state or with the walls coming up from the foundation. I would also like to mention  that in Renfrews we cannot get Government water because this government lied to the people of Olivers at the start of the year in the first Cabinet notes telling them be prepared to experience inconvenience because they are going to be digging up the the roads to lay pipes in that area, and I have driven up to that area where Mr. Wehner did a video by that BIG BLACK TANK in Buckley’s/Olivers and other areas of the Village, and there are no pipes or any digging in that area to lay pipes to give those people a basic human right access to government water. The BIG BLACK TANK on the hill was to gravity feed that area along with Renfrews and the surrounding communities, and to this day nothing has been done.

I say all this to say the people of this country, NEVER, EVER, BELIEVER, ANYTHING, these people in our government have to say. All they do is tell lies because they know most of the people very gullible and put election handouts before themselves. I advise the people of this country to go and do their own research and see things for themselves before believing anything these LIARS put in their Cabinet notes or announce to the people of this country.

I am absolutely fed up of Gaston Browne and his LYING cohorts and it is time for a change in the country.

Alfred,

Disgusted Citizen

  1. There seems to be a LOT of anger against the ALP right now in the country. People are taking to social media and ripping into Gaston Browne and the ALP. Seems people are tired of Gaston’s volatile, disrespectful behavior as well as his false promises and are fed up. Harold Lovell may not be the most charismatic person in Antigua but he is level headed, intelligent and next to Gaston, he seems like a relief in the same way that everyone breathed a sigh of relief when Biden took over from Trump’s 4 years of outlandish behavior.

  2. Make Tabor and the Man Cow know Harold Lovell is getting an early retirement so they are not getting the big jobs he promise them

  3. The government of Antigua and Barbuda MUST desist from giving sidewalks projects to their friends with inexperience.
Sidewalks and drainage gutters should be built to last for a long time.
All drainage gutters that run across the roadways MUST be THREE DIMENSIONAL AND NOT CONCAVE driive-in gutters. Car wheels driving through these drive-in gutters cause the asphalt around these gutters to become loose hence resulting in potholes and subsequently roads and gutter repairs.

  4. The PEOPLE are damn well fed up of the BLATANT DAMN LIES BEING TOLD BY THIS ADMINISTRATION.I drove around the Island and could not believed mine eyes. The stench in St John’s and the filth around the Island. There are old unlicensed cars parked all over the place. Those cars should be removed from all of the streets and be dumped in a designated area. There are many building in St John’s that needs some painting done. They are looking decrepit and run down. Take a look at the streets in the heart of St John’s. They have more potholes than several Warri Boards. Come on Gaston Browne and his over eating Cabinet, clean the damn place up.

      • I-man anyhow you turn it they are trying to mislead. It says nearly completed. What does nearly completed means. It certainly does not mean walls going up from foundation with no roofs on.

      • @I-man… I guess that you don’t read and comprehend too well. Your government said that 12 of the homes were completed; but in fact, this individual is saying that NONE are completed. I am not going to insult you; only offer some advise that if you cannot comprehend, don’t open your mouth and sound ignorant.

        • “The Minister of Lands and Housing announced that 12 homes out of a planned 400 homes, at Oliver’s, are nearly completed. All the homes in phase 1 of the project have already been assigned to new homeowner”
I hope you can read the word “nearly” in there. Means Almost.
You guys need help. You can still sign up for the YEEP Program.

      • You can’t blame them. They dropped out of primary school.
That’s why we are telling them how important education is. If you cannot read and write or comprehend at O’ Level, you will have a problem in life.

    • Of Course not. You guys would believe anything anyone says bad about the government. And ANR would publish any letter without checking whether it is true or not. Why has he not provided pictures of what he claims?
Anyway, it makes no sense to debunk his story. Facts will remain facts. People can go and see for themselves.

  5. Look how ABLP headquarters nice-up in the picture.

How comes they couldn’t do the same with Housing stock for the citizens of Antigua.

REMEMBER, ONE AND ALL, A THIRD TERM OF OFFICE FOR ABLP WOULD BE DISASTROUS!

    • Have you seen the houses in Paynter’s? And have you seen the ones in Dredges? just to mention two signature housing projects.
