Thank you to MP Sherfield Bowen for protecting Antiguan and Barbudan’s constitutional rights and correcting ABLP’s entire government legal team on their errors. You are right, the country needs experts in the social and behavioral field
In a fair and objective view, MP Bowen, Attorney Bowen, with his US advance degree in law, has made great observation and critique of the ABLP’s bills/acts pertaining to gang and crime.
MP Bowen speech in parliament was truly important because he quickly highlighted the horrific constitutional violations in the bills that for some reason the Attorney General Cutie Benjamin and his government funded legal team (in his numerous ministries) could not see with a building full of attorneys and legal experts.
You have to be happy that MP Bowen is a member of parliament and representative of the people to stand up in parliament for the constitutional rights of our youths and people in Antigua and Barbuda.
MP Bowen perfectly pointed out how uncreative and reactive the legislation is which was solely about punishment of youths, as if they are all useless and not worth investing in and rehabilitate. Just waiting for them to fail with nothing in the bills/acts to prevent them from failing and providing them with a path to success.
All the ABLP bills/acts does is solely condemn youths and waiting for them to fail, to then pounce on them with the most severe and barbaric punishments, without consideration. The acts take away the power of the court to determine how to rehabilitate and or punish youths on a case-by-case basis. You should not write-off children even before you know their circumstances like the ABLP act does.
MP Bowen rightfully stood up for the youth and the Antigua and Barbuda Constitution. He has definitely won my support after his speech in parliament. You can tell he got his advanced degree of training in the US. The constitutional rights of the people in Antigua and Barbuda are vitally important to him.
The bill and the acts failed to provide preventative solutions by providing great opportunities to youths and people in general. We have to stop being so reactive and begin being proactive for our youths and people. Why is everything about punishment and never about rewards? Why does the act not introduce the rights for youths to be heard, to be assisted and contribute to their community.
I would like to see community sport events where youths can earn rewards, scholarships, money, opportunities, and celebrity statuses to motivate them on the right path. Not just having these ABLP laws sitting there waiting for youths to fail and punishing them with the most severe punishment without taking their circumstances into consideration because ABLP thinks the youths of the nation are not worth.
I genuinely and sincerely would love to see him, Attorney/MP/Advanced Degree Bowen, MP Bowen, at the helm of the country. Imagine having someone who can focus on the points/problem and make intellectual contribution to the development of a country from his advance degree of knowledge that MP. Bowen has and those people he can work with.
He is one that will work with anyone, and everyone to make the place a better place, not like some leaders who think they know things they have no clue about. MP Bowen will listen, and he will give you a voice.
I want people who displays the qualities he, MP Bowen, has displayed that I have seen. I say this with sincerity.
Finally, all people should have the right to defend themself and the constitution. I am happy he was able to do these. I officially find the intelligent, reasonable, strategic, learnt, cooperative and humble leader that should be in charge of the Antigua and Barbuda government at this time.
I am not a fan of UPP, but I am now a fan of MP Bowen. This is the kind of debates you want to see in a government. Sadly, local Antiguans do not have the sense to seek the best and most knowledgeable leaders.
MP/Attorney Bowen, keep doing the good work and you have my support because of your great ways of helping my people.
What can I do to get you elected as Prime Minister, I am ready? And it is clear you are ready and best suited for the position

We have brilliant and better leaders available like MP Bowen. The issue is, the low self esteem of the locals and their focus on sticking to what they know. They have no clue what great is.
I wish they see the significant potential in the new and accomplished folks. I wish they see that the country can do much better and not just accept a leader telling them that because they may be doing a bit better than one country that they should be satisfied with just that instead of aiming for the best the country and people could achieve.
I strongly believe MP Bowen will steer the country into achieving its best and not the minimum like current politicians are telling us to celebrate. Why don’t we have great analytical thinkers at the helm? Who have experienced living in developed countries to encourage the locals they can achieve more.
It is not just about what you can do for your country but it is also about what your country will do with what you are doing for it to make the place better for its people. I saw the other day someone from ABLP saying the government have no moral and legal duty to the people to encourage jobs and growth in the economy so psychologist and others can find job and I notice genuinely this is the true way of thinking for a lot of the politicians. MP Bowen is not like this. I do not see that in him. But I see that in other politicians.
With all due respect to your views, I simply cannot look at or listen to a man who should be in jail for the murder of a pregnant young woman and now is an expert on the rights and development of young people. I suppose the young lady had no rights or rights only exist depending on who is involved.
Is the writer and the commentator the same person?
YES! The 1st comment is from the writer himself. He always looking attention. Guess his babysitter ignored him and watched Victor on Young and the Restless instead.
@Truth seeker, are folks not allowed to follow the law and lawfully defend themself? I do not know the circumstances of what you are speaking about but are you saying this MP without just cause and for no reason kill a person?
Are you saying that people should not defend themself? I hate when people ignore the right to defend themself. Oh, you use a gun to save your life so you are wrong for saving your life? This is why criminals run rampant in the country because they know people like this would condemn the public from lawfully defending themself. Did this man went to this woman’s house to kill her? Did this woman went to this man? What are the facts? Not what are your feelings? Anyway, a loss of life is always a loss. I pray for any pain suffered to exist no more.
And @Smh, I wrote the article and obviously the first comment.
anytime that man come on my tv, I turn it off!!! He has NO MORAL AUTHORITY to speak on gangs and SHOOTINGS! R.i.p TESSA and foetus
POW POW POW…..the blood oozed from her neck
@Sad but true, tenman, a man want attention for himself who pushes for others and not for himself? Make that make sense. I understand you must do what you can to keep your job. Don’t worry, I have a job for you. If you change.
However, it is time we advance the country and utilize experts in their field. I strongly believe MP Bowen will facilitate this advancement with his advanced degree of knowledge that I do not think no one else in parliament possesses.
Sorry advancement gets you so upset and thrratened that you must attack people who supports it. This is sad. It is time the nation see how much people like this hates their advancement.
U sound like one educated RASSHOLE!!!!! A man pow pow a pregnant young black woman and u call that defend himself!!!! His RASS was a whole married man he should not be messing with the young lady who was allegedly mentally unstable. Then a purpose RASS like u have the nerve to come and defend that shit. And FYI he was not found not guilty he got off on a technicality and of course our weak ass prosecutors never filed back charges. But birds of a feather flock together.
PS Bowen ain’t going to help u with getting off ya daddy who shot and cripple one man now go use ur millions and compensate the man who is confined to a wheelchair.
she was NOT menatlly unstable. Married men cheating on their wives love to FEED LIES, PROMISES & PIPE DREAMS to young girls….you can imagine the effect this has on the mind
@Mr. Entitled, so you are implying the lady was mentally sick and dangerous? And for that reason no one should defend themself against harms from the kind of person you described?
Tenman, I cannot support your notion that people should not defend themself from serious bodily harm or death.
No matter how much money or vagina I get. I must defend and protect life from harm. This is not just about my education but my moral duty to others.
Also, it hurts hearing you say that Antiguans and Barbudans are so worthless that they should male their son’s pay criminals just like the ones terrorizing Antigua right now with vicious armed robbery, shootings, killings, burglary, rape, assault, battery, and practically terrorism. It hurts hearing Mr. Entitled/tenman say these horrible things about Antiguans and Barbudans.
It’s more than obvious that not only are u an educated dunce and rasshole but u fail to listen and love making assumptions which only makes u a bigger arse. For the hundred million time I AM NOT TENMAN!!! I don’t know who Tennan is nor do I care to know who he is. Furthermore is your entitled arse don’t know all the facts of the case I suggest u use all this free time on ur hands and go read the case file. U have the resources and time so go make proper use of them. In the mean time I pray any young lady reading ur sick and twisted comments stay 50,000 feet from u because it’s clear u have now problem to pow pow them if u don’t get ur way.
Anyway back to the point, let us get great representation in all parts of the government and system. Let us encourage people with advanced knowledge to be part of critical sections of the country.
