Dear Editor,
I write to express my profound frustration and disbelief at the abysmal state of affairs in the issuance of license plates by our local authorities.
It is nothing short of outrageous that citizens are handed plates that are not just substandard, but downright faulty.
The recent experience of receiving a license plate that is not only crooked but also peeling at the edges is nothing short of a mockery of the fees we pay for these supposedly essential documents.
It’s beyond comprehension that such a basic element of vehicle identification could be handled with such blatant incompetence.
This is not a trivial matter; faulty license plates compromise both the safety and identity of vehicles on our roads.
How can we trust law enforcement and our fellow drivers to recognize our vehicles when the plates are shoddy representation of official documentation?
Moreover, the inconvenience caused by having to always get a reprint every passing year or ar least months before the plates are faded dealing with the aftermath of this bureaucratic disaster is utterly unacceptable.
The time wasted on filing complaints, visiting relevant offices, and the potential legal consequencs of driving with a damaged license plate are simply inexcusable. Does this government care not about the unnessary monies we are spending?
Our local authorities need to be held accountable for this colossal failure. We, as citizens, deserve bettr than subpar products and additional burdens placed upon us due to bureaucratic incompetence.
It is high time that those responsible for this embarrassig blunder are held accountable, and a comprehensive review of the license plate issue process is conducted to prevent such debacles in the future.
I urge my fellow citiens to join me in demanding swift action to retify this situation. We should not settle for mediocrity when it comes to crucial matters of public safety and administration.
Mr. Hubert Jarvis I’m not sure if this is a flex for your love of transport board money but please fix it because the people of Antigua along with your poorly paid staff has had enough poor people a cry.
Sincerely,
Kirby

I support the author of this article, but it is not only a concern of value for mony, it is also a matter of security as required by law. The transport board is not the only one to be blame, those charge with enforcement must move with urgency to effect the traffic ordinance.
Kirby, write to Charles ‘Max’ Fernández, he’s in charge of Vehicular Control and Transportation.
People think he’s only involved in tourism.
It’s about time we got these Cabinet Ministers to do what they are being well paid for … good luck! 👍🏾
The staff work very hard indeed with very low pau..
Low payment indeed.
The Transport Board is a srutory body issuing licence plates to the public. Maybe apart from making a public complaint that serves well to alert the public through the media, the writer of the article should lodge an official complaint to the Transport Board and provide feedback on their response.
Sadly, my response is, you are in Antigua. And if you challenge your people to do better and want better all of them and their ten other men saying you want special treatment when you are only informing folks to advance the country and processes.
You are at high risk of getting the worse service at any government office.
Sharon Lycorich, please note that I have lodged a complaint to the transport board about this serious matter. Let ous wake-up!
