To the Editor,
I am writing as a concerned resident of the St. John’s City South constituency. With elections drawing near, I find it deeply troubling that there is little to no visible activity, communication, or engagement taking place within our community.
As someone who does not consider myself politically affiliated, my expectations are simple: representation, transparency, and fairness. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me questioning whether these principles are being upheld in my constituency.
During a period of personal hardship, I reached out in hopes of receiving assistance with school supplies for my child. I was informed that the supplies had already been allocated to specific individuals. This response was both disappointing and concerning. In other constituencies, there are open and public initiatives where residents can access school supplies without bias. Why, then, does St. John’s City South appear to operate differently?
This raises serious questions about fairness and equal access. Assistance programs should not feel exclusive or predetermined. They should serve the wider community, especially those in genuine need.
Additionally, there is a noticeable lack of communication about development within the constituency. We hear of housing projects and land initiatives, yet there are no clear updates, no visible progress, and no engagement with residents. At a time when other constituencies are actively showcasing their growth and plans, St. John’s City South appears silent.
Equally concerning is the lack of clarity surrounding representation. As elections approach, many of us are still uncertain about who will be contesting the seat and what their plans are for our community. This absence of information makes it difficult for residents to make informed decisions.
It is disheartening to feel overlooked and disconnected from the very system meant to serve us. Our constituency deserves attention, development, and transparency — not silence.
I hope that by raising these concerns, it will encourage those in positions of responsibility to engage more actively with the people of St. John’s City South and address the issues affecting our community.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Resident

Concerned Resident like yourself I’m not a supporter of any political party.
Politics in Antigua and Barbuda allows for a “Want to be Dictator” to be the Monarch and Cabinet Members to be appointed as Members of the Criwn.
Your writing shows you have some writing skills, but coukd use a few courses in political science and civics.
Otherwise, you are not who you claim to be.
If you are, it’s a sad indicator of the many ills of the Country. You are a victim of the very system you seem to support or find tolerable.
The development of a community, housing educational programs and the delivery of Social service for those in need, should not come from a partisan entity.
The taxes paid for services should be equally dispensable based on beed from a Government department or agency by application and effective and efficient that serves every one based on needs.
The dependency on the Members of Parliament who are the political representatives and not the Operative unit of Government Department which delivers services to the Constituency on an equal basis that creates the silence which is troubling to you.
It will continue so long as people like yourself either the ability to express themselves but wait for Cutie or who ever the MP may be to deliver.
Here it is that it’s election season and you are deeply troubled that there is little to no visible activity, communication, or engagement taking place within your community.
You are in support of the very failure that you wrote about.
