LETTER: Mystified by Gaston’s obsession with ‘Rich’ Africans

14

Dear Editor,

I am mystified by Gaston’s obsession with “Rich” Africans, more specifically Nigerians. Eight months ago he was taken for a complete a**.

The outcome caused embarrassment to Antigua on a monumental level and the buffoon hasn’t learned lessons on how to avoid Nigerian fraudsters.

Antigua has nothing that would be of interest to “wealthy” Nigerians; they are more likely to spend their money in Switzerland, Dubai or Singapore, unless they are crooks masquerading as “wealthy”.

In that case they are more likely to be into money laundering, human or drug trafficking.

In recent years they have been involved with kidnapping people for human organs.

Antiguans should keep an open mind about the disappearances of their children and more specifically for those children who have never been found.

It is possible they are into all three which would be favourable with the PM.

He has issued Antiguan passport to a wanted criminal without considering the risks attached to his madness.

The Buffoon mentioned that several CARICOM head of states expressed interest in his recent African venture, but did not mention the names of those head of states, chances are that is the figment of his warped and twisted imagination.

It is incomprehensible that any head of state in sound mind would commit his country into a business venture with a wanted criminal, with a failing airline.

Only Gaston has that inclination!

Well Antiguans brace yourselves for more scandals.

  1. It’s Desperation not Obsession. It’s not that he is necessarily hooked on “wealthy” Africans, they are the only ones taking him on. Legit investors wouldn’t waste time with Gaston Browne. He was faking the ground breakings for a while, but even that is now stale.

  2. HERE WE GO AGAIN , FIRST THE PM SAID WE WERE DUPED AND NOW HE’S RIGHT BACK INTO THE DOG MESS AGAIN TO BE DUPED FOR A SECOND TIME WITHOUT FINDING OUT WHY IT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

OTHER THAN BEING BLACK, NIGERIANS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN COMMON WITH ANTIGUANS.

  3. Desperate times call for Desperate measures
I do what I like because I am a three times crown Prime Minister.
Prince and I will b retire soon.

  4. Yet our Prime Minister continually ignores the wealthy pickings from Antiguans living abroad, especially in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Why not give the same type of incentives to the diaspora as the Africans?

There are plenty of Antiguan entrepreneurs doing well in other countries; and don’t forget the engineers, mathematicians, medical practitioners et al, that given the right type of incentives to invest or return home, would – without doubt – make a bigger difference than the Africans who don’t know as much about Antigua & Barbuda.

Has he given up on the diaspora since his disastrous visits (especially in America) last year?

  5. It is time for a change and anything short of this, the mess will continue. I am calling on the ABLP parliamentarians to put an end to Gaston and his nonsense. This is not about party politics. This is about Antigua. Saving our beautiful country from embarrassment after embarrassment. Saving the APLP institution from further embarrassment. If you don’t stand up Gastón is going to erode the entire ABLP party, its principles and constitution.
In recent years he has been hand picking candidates instead of following the party constitution, aided by Chet Green and MariClare Hurst. Remember how he threw out Gail Christian at the time she was party chairman and chose lazy Benjiman over her- he considered her a threat then.
Chet everyone knows that you want to become Antigua and Barbuda next PM. Your only chance on that is to get rid of Gaston. He has and will continue to give you enough reason to make your move. Making Baba ambassador for example was sufficient. Unless you are as dunce and defending that idiotic decision. Anyhow you can not wait to become Gaston successor- he is much younger then your are. In fact the ABLP is poised to loose all 17 seats, be it one by one , starting with Suggy doubling his wiping on Samantha Marshall. Before the next general elections Robin or Cutie could resign or quit politics . Not wishing them ill health , just facing up to strong possibilities.
I just cannot see ABLP last out this 5 years under the leadership of Gaston Brown. St. Kitts did exactly that and now they have a stable government. If something is not done Antigua Barbuda is well poised to become a Dictatorship state.
How people becomes dictators. Most start of with good political intentionsl. They became greedy and power hungry and corrupt. To loose power means prison time because of corruption. So they hold on to power by any means. Gastón has told his cabinet to get rich and that is why none of you are standing up because all hards are in the cookie Jar. So aided by a few corrupt, greedy and power hungry politicians, civil servants, military and police officials( notice the police and military said nothing about Bruce Greenaway case). it is very easy to move from a democratic state to dictatorship. In others it’s just pure power hungry- we have both.

    • I’m inclined to agree with, but as long as his loyalists exist in the party we will still have the same problems. The young senators who were simply “installed” are also an issue. Imagine a party where a former enemy is now chairman.

  6. Pay attention to the Nigerians
They are just as crafty, and ingenious, as can be..
Everybody please watch this movie on Netflix called “joy”..
    I watched it twice..
    AGAIN “JOY”
GASTON YOU SHOULD WATCH IT TOO👀

  7. An excellent article from the mind of a thinker.
This idiot is destroying Antigua and Barbuda and must be stopped before it’s too late.
Those who are positions to know what is going on and like the reprehensible cowards they are, say nothing, will answer in time.
The hand picked immigration officers who illegally processed these Africans must answer for their deliberate breaking of the law.
The civil servants in CIP,Social Security, NAMCO, Treasury and on and on, must be made to answer.
Let’s be rid of this scourge, Gaston Browne

    • Here here @ Watching, what we need now is for WHISTLE-BLOWERS (aka civil servants) to come forward regarding discrepancies with NAMCO; CIP; the Treasury; and especially the Immigration Department, where Ms Katrina Yearwood went Missing In Action (MIA) when the Haitians, Indians and the “wealthy” Africans disappeared without trace.

COME ON WHISTLE-BLOWERS, DO THE PATRIOTIC THING AND PUT ANTIGUA & BARBUDA FIRST!

  8. @Winston Southwell,Cutie Benjamin, really? There are rumors of a new AG in the not too distant future. Why is this? Cutie Benjamin was ruled by the courts to answer to fraud charges. There is no statute of limitation on fraud, so answer he will. In due time.
@Brixtonian, so aptly put. But people are so selfish here, it’s not funny. However, to sit with your mouth shut when you see wrong being perpetrated is one thing, if it only affects a few, but when the silence results in the sufferings of thousands of citizens, then it becomes an act of treason in my opinion. It is my honest opinion that the private sector loves this crooked ALP government. There are confirmed reports of millions of dollars in vouchers for a free pass at the port for merchandise, now we hear from cabinet that the port is unable to service the loan to the Chinese. Something tells me that public funds are being channeled into the infamous NAMCO and this explains the inability to pay civil servants and outstanding debts.
This country in dire straights and will not survive 5 years of Gaston Browne.
