Yesterday, a letter was published in your news portal captioned ” Bars & Clubs operators need to respect residents”.
As I read it, I felt a sense of joy, coupled with relief & pride to see that one of the bar operators penned his displeasure about the way residents are being treated by his fellow colleagues.
Of course, I share similar sentiments. However, my displeasure does not only concern the discourteous behaviour of these bar operators, but it is about the mechanics & owners who have derelict vehicles parked along the side of the roads.
Our roads are now becoming sites of mechanic shops causing problems for us, the drivers and by extension, the pedestrians. In addition, remnants from oil changes etc after a vehicle has been serviced are scarring and defacing the the front view of persons homes. Rodents are also using these sites as their habitats.
We all know that Transport Board collects taxes for the roads to be driven on and not for the roads to be use as a graveyard for derelict vehicles or a storage site for mechanics. As a tourist resort, one of our mantra is ” Keep Antigua Clean.”
Therefore, each citizen & resident has a responsibility to be civic minded to help keep our beautiful nation clean & beautiful. If we are doing otherwise, why isn’t the authorities stepping in to make their presence be felt?

Indeed the offenders need to feel the brunt of the law. Many of these offenders feel they have the right to have their old discarded vehicles to take up space that licensed vehicles should occupy.

People cant park outside cemetary cause the mechanic on the south thinks its his road. Then go through Sutherlands and the road east of that. Just a waste of road because sooooo much old car on that road its not worth the traffic tie up. Then theres the mechanic over by Mad People Town. He have one tun a vehicle a line off infront of the apartment. What a view the tenants must have.
Then have busines with the vehicule , in cooksthen sale parts for the old vehicules then movies for the road and sale the catalis and scrash metal .
