LETTER: Kelvin “Shugy” Simon neglected branch office

22
Neglected branch office

For over two years, Kelvin “Shugy” Simon neglected one of the most basic responsibilities of representation—opening a branch office to hear and serve the people. For over two years, that office sat closed, useless, and absent—just like the representation the people were promised.

No access. No accountability. No presence.

Now, suddenly, on the eve of an election, the doors are open.

Let’s not sugarcoat it—this is a blatant political gimmick.

For years, there were no excuses about resources, no urgency, no effort. The people were ignored. Their concerns went unheard. But now, with elections approaching, there is a sudden, desperate attempt to appear relevant.

That is not leadership—that is hypocrisy.

That is not service—that is deception.

Do they really think the people are blind? Do they really believe voters are so easily fooled? That we would forget two years of silence just because a door is finally opened at the last minute?

The people of this constituency are not fools. We see through the timing. We see through the act. And we will not be disrespected by last-minute theatrics disguised as leadership.

You cannot abandon the people for years and then show up at the final hour expecting trust.

The truth is simple: real representation is consistent—it doesn’t show up only when votes are needed.

The people are watching. The people are fed up. And the people will respond.

  1. To whomever wrote this…nearly all the branch offices whether ALP or UPP have been closed. Ask the people who live on Whenner Road…the constituency office there has been derelict. When I saw them open the office and started cleaning a few weeks ago that was all I needed to know that elections were about to be called. So said, so done. The announcement was made a few days later. So it’s not the UPP offices only…

  2. Ho! This ALP sympathizer is bragging on the fact that the ALP is in power and knows when to reopen their branch offices that was closed since the last election, now they trying to embarrass upp to re-open like the ALP who just start open their office because they know election date.

  3. This article, clearly written from a Labour perspective, is honestly laughable. The irony is hard to miss—the writer points out that the branch office has been closed for over two years, yet now suggests there’s suddenly a rush to get things done because elections are approaching.
That claim is both misleading and contradictory. If anything, history shows that it’s your own party that scrambles to act when election season rolls around. To try and twist that narrative onto others only highlights how weak and unconvincing the argument really is.
No matter how you spin this dysfunctional and inaccurate piece, the reality on the ground remains the same—Shuggy Simon will retain his seat.

  4. So when JUDAS DWAYNE GEORGE, usevto campaign and call Gaston Browne and the ABLP and its supporters corrupt, and now is a candidate ,is that leardedship or deception? Obviously, the supporters of the ABLP are like cults. They just follow blindly. The same people that were calling your party corrupt and evil ,now by passing all of the so call cult members leaving you to be papparize yearly. Ar u no hab nun shame!

  5. WINKKUP PASTOR would rather spend the constituency allowance on playing mas in Trinidad than serving the people

APOSTLE SHUGY SIMON IS A CHARLATAN.

First went to Trinidad to BIBLE COLLEGE
Goes back to Trinidad to jump up in the DEVIL CARNIVAL

  6. @Straig.. Nope we are just very forgiving hence focus more on togetherness to build our nation vs the other side that prefers bitterness. Chorus:
“Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we’ll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We’ll keep the red flag flying here.”

  7. Cutie had constituency office on Nevis street last election. That has long since closed and the building was up for sale.

  8. @Straight Talk

That lame and lying “Judas” label is old and stale and will not fly this time around.

The people have seen Shugy true colours. He is all of self and belongs in the streets.

Sean Bird and Bowen a Judas? They left Labour party for the IMF Party. Gimme a break with the one-sided nonsense.

    Shugy only cares about SHUGY

    What a selfish prick!

  9. Cutie doesn’t need a constituency office. His people LOVE him and he LOVES them.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  10. Were u going to volunteer to sit and take the complaints for free?
Covid taught us that many things can be done virtually
Also rents must be paid. Why use constituency allowance to pay rent when a virtual platform exists. That money can help in green spaces beautification
For the older people,I think they still prefer seeing and interacting with their MPs but it can be done on their verandas
Please talk about the Mary Jane epidemic among young people and stop trying to shade a man whom the young lookup to
Shugy for PM; Braf and Lead

  11. Is any of us perfect?

He who has no sin, then cast the first stone!

However, don’t worry yourself fellow Antiguans, because everything that Gaston Browne has involved himself with since becoming the Antiguan Prime Minister has been:

Exemplary; superb; beyond reproach; perfectamundo; and magnificent according to Gastonites, sycophants, acolytes, lickspittlers, the moustache wipers (🥸), cultists, and kowtowing boot-lickers.

And he’s soon to rule unoppossed in an autocratic Antigua & Barbuda!

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY GASTON BROWNE

    🎶”Hail…Hail…Hail…”🎶🤣🤣🤣

    🎶Wheeeel an Come Again…🎤🎧

  12. @What’s your point, well highlighted …👏🏾

… and you won’t hear a pipsqueak out of @tenman about dat! Watch he go back into hibernation again 🤣

ANR comments are the best … bar none!

  13. @ Tenman

From the time I saw this blog I knew immediately that there would be a comment from you about Shuggy.

Are you in love with him or still so bitter since the rass-ing he put on you guys in the by-election a few years ago, you and your stupid foolish virgin RANT- you just can’t let go of it, you must sleep with it and Mr Simon on your mind.

  14. @TENMAN: IS THAT GOAT JUMPED OVER THE FENCE AND IS BACK INTO THE GARDEN? PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION.

  15. Tell he @get over it man. I enjoy the way that other ANR commentators are seeing right through @Tenman’s nonsensical rhetoric. Marvellous!

And BTW, if Shugy have any perceived problems, they pale into insignificance compared to Browne’s 11-12 years governance.

He’s never called out Gaston Browne on anything. I tried to get him to comment on the recent controversy on the vehicle acquisitions procurement scandal, and up till now nothing, nada, zilch!

It’s not just Tenman, but a whole bunch ah Gastonites that suddenly disappear when any serious financial issues needs addressing.

  16. Your picture doesn’t depict what you are talking about. I am seeing an office open and surrounding clean. Should have taking pictures two yrs ago.
Shugy beat you to it . When you saw him taking videos over the yrs he was doing his job as an MP agitating for the people. That’s also the role of an MP. That’s why you have received all these negative comments. You have failed in your quest to hurt Shugy politically.
As a matter of fact ” go siddung” nonsense.

  17. No one is on a quest to hurt Shugy. He does a great job of that all on his own.

Shugy is a FAILURE!!! He is usually ABSENT from Parliament and in the unlikely eventhat he shows up, he sits next to the Snake on the “RUDE BOY STAND” and refuses to contribute meaningfully to the debate.

A reckless, callous fete boy with old wrinkle eyes, chicken feet and a Sponge Bob chest.

  18. I would like to see the person who wrote this article take that same effort to write about the ALP neglect in soo many area ! I rest my case.
