Is Ian “Magic” Hughes the New PRO of the UPP?
Some call him Raycan, others say he’s part of the lightning and thunder. Some label him a convicted pedophile, while others dismiss him as nothing more than comedic.
Yet, to some, Ian “Magic” Hughes is magical — a self-proclaimed investigative journalist who’s never afraid to speak his mind and take the backlash in stride.
Now, Hughes has climbed the ranks to become the chief spokesperson for the United Progressive Party (UPP) on all matters, a move that has left many puzzled, concerned, and calling for accountability.
Magic’s rise within the UPP has not been without controversy. He has boldly called out senior party members, including Richard Lewis, Algernon “Serpent” Watts, and Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, accusing them of plotting to form a new party and questioning their conspicuous absence from recent party rallies.
This open criticism has widened visible cracks within the party and sparked debates about the direction and leadership of the UPP.
It’s no secret that Magic is a vocal supporter of his cousin, D. Gisele Isaac, the current Chairperson of the party.
His loyalty to family is clear, but so too is his tendency to stir controversy, often in ways that undermine the party’s public image.
The bigger question now is: Why are senior members allowing this comic figure to represent the party on national platforms? And just as importantly, why does Observer Radio — a station that brands itself as educational and informative — continue to give him airtime?

There is no doubt that the UPP has been a beacon of hope for many, but its association with controversial and polarizing figures like Ian “Magic” Hughes threatens to derail the party’s message and credibility.
For the good of the movement, the leadership must take a hard look at who they allow to speak for them and whether these individuals reflect the party’s core values and vision.
The party deserves better. The nation deserves better.

I want to personally echo much of the sentiment expressed by this writer. As a former PRO of the UPP I take great pride in what I say and when I say it. Credibility does matter and when u are speaking on behalf of an organization your spokes persons must bring that.
We chide Max all the time for his lies and excesses, we cannot give a free pass to the UPP.
This is not personal but Mr. Hughes should not be the mouth piece in anyway shape or for of the UPP. Mr. Hughes has matters that he Mr. Hughes must settle.
The leadership of the UPP is politically foolish to think that the nation would over look these things. If they did not forgive Sir Lester Bird with his indiscretion why would u think that you the UPP would be an exception.
Get your ACT together, to the public you are an alternative government, your decisions and choices must show and reflect that. Your judgement must also show that and your public utterances must echo just that.
Not because a person is saying what you want to hear that does not mean they are the right person to talk for all of us. Hire Magic as your personal PR then and not subject the party to this clown show called Party leadership.

I must congratulate Ian Magic Hughes on his last appearance on the “Connecting with Dave Lester. Payne Show”, he had done a fantastic job on that particular day,in opening up the public eyes, to the finer Details, to new and more pressing Issues, concerning the Antigua Labour Party, Gaston Browne and the Alfa Nero connections, the Browne Family Accumulation of wealth and many more, now talking place in Antigua and Barbuda today, today.
This operative of the Corrupt Antigua Labour Party, has just written a whole long epistle and in his article about Ian Magic Hughes and has failed miserably, to mentioned, what’s turely really bothering him and the Antigua Labour Party? I really don’t understand. My thing is, I cannot understand why anyone would be comfortable with someone who would think that it was ok to violate a child. Because what kind of mindset does a person have to have to do this? And some of you saying that he served his time. Does that make it ok? Does that erase it? He did it! He touched a child! He has that type of mindset and thought that it was ok!
