Dear Editor,
This is with regards to the incident which took place several days ago where a restaurant was looted of its contents in the vicinity of valley church area.
We the following restaurants in the community of Jolly Harbor and valley church road stand in solidarity and deeply and utterly condemn such act of thievery and hope that this matter be resolved soonest.
We are all local restaurants and truly love this country and the people of this nation. Indeed, we would love to see all restaurants prosper and thereby support the growth of this economy.
We are pledging to work together as one unified force in the area to make Antigua and Barbuda safe and prosperous.
The statement that was made by the proprietor on her live stating that” all local restaurant’s operated around the area & that customers are there for everyone so nobody need to sabotage her business”.
It is affecting our businesses in a negative way.
The community is very unhappy, hurt, humiliated heartbroken & bombarded with multiple questions and accusations throwing at us Management, staff, family members on the streets, in supermarkets and numerous phone calls from potential customers locally and internationally voicing their concern on the matter.
We condemn any accusations that may state otherwise and/or be against our goals and values for our businesses.
We are not engaging in any actions that could harm one’s business. We believe in healthy competition and would never engage in such behavior.
With all that is said and done, we the restaurant community also have few questions concerning such gruesome act.
1. The proprietor didn’t give a brief detail and identification of the items. (WHY?)
2. Why didn’t the proprietor ask the public to be on the lookout for the stolen items & if found call her / the nearest police station?
3. Why didn’t the proprietor take the public on her live showing the damages that were done to the property and where the thieves enter and exit with all 5 commercial items?
4. Why the proprietor throw such shade at the local restaurants?
Let us keep love in our hearts and faith in our soul.

I have heard of the owner of this building to be vindictive. Had a friend run this Restaurant years ago and the owner of the building stole simple stuff like table cloths to prevent operations from going forward, just because he wanted to retake the restaurant .
I don’t see how these comments help the situation. It seems that whoever wrote these comments are accusing the restauranteur of some nefarious actions. Instead, use your time and energy to rally your community to raise money to replace they coolers/ freezers.
The plight of the said restaurant owner sounded bogus. We Antiguans are too gullible to believe every pity statement/video made by someone. The questions asked a legitimate. Also, I’m sure the property has cameras and the public would more than willingly help if the footage is released. The story on its face is unbelievable. It’s hard for me to believe that no one heard any heavy vehicle (as it needed to be heavy vehicles moving the FIVE freezers she claimed she lost). I’ll speculate she wanted to close her business and shirk the responsibility of paying severance. What better way than to claim you’re closing because of robbery? I’m not buying her story and I hope this matter is investigated fully.
It would appear as if her statements hit where it hurts.The truth usually hurts most of the times.
I believe I heard the owner ask the public to be on the look out for fridges. I too wondered why a live tour of damage was not filmed for all to see.

Base on the line of questioning, it is being imputed on the restaurant owner that she is the one that is committing something of moral turpitude.
I would prefer probable cause before placing this lady in this light.
Anything go so who restaurant fully stocked up during off season and who have 10 staff anyone visit they other restaurants to ask whats their take on it sounds crazy the ones wants publicity and it’s pure gimmick anything go so wise up maybe the should check dishwasher and waitress or the chef since he wasn’t there and no one else wasn’t he was the first on the scene and then it became they and we even the son and her dark glasses but now all big smile .was robbed but did this restaurant BANK ACCOUNT GOT ROBBED TOO? And remember the the owner was shot in the knees he had a gofund me in his account and he knew it was on of his worker did it.So many other businesses so survive and some simply couldn’t survive the pandemic and families home burnt down who went to that lengths to help then people near and far wise up u r been scammed

Instead of throwing shade at someone’s misfortunes, is there anything of value that you are able to offer?
It never cease to amaze me the way these anonymous writers are willing to criticize others in their time of distress, all because there’s nothing risked at stake for them.
How can one be so insensitive in the midst of such challenge that a business finds itself?
Are we’ve all so cold-hearted, cynical and apathetic that we don’t know when and where to suggest otherwise to the recent outcry of the proprietor?
Even this letter which begins with a disclaimer, to then suggest how the victim should tell her story.
She was on Twin Island Media early on Monday morning, offering details about the sad state of affairs.
Many restaurants in Antigua don’t like competitors, despite the claims of the anonymous writer of this article.

My question to the Operator would be, ” Why no security system, (eg: alarm, cameras) for such a remote location?
Next question to the “Local Restaurant and Bar Owners”, Why don’t you identify yourself instead of hiding behind a pseudonym, throwing shade and accusing the Operator of a scam?
As others have commented, maybe there’s is a conspiracy to sabotage the business. Is the business doing better than yours? Maybe you need to step up your game
