Letter to the Editor: Commending Police Action and Addressing the Threat of Foreign Criminals
Dear Editor,
I wish to commend our police force for their swift and courageous response during the recent robbery incident, where they confronted and neutralized a group of armed criminals, killing one. Many of us are of the view that in future the police needs to put tax payers bullets to even better use and take all of them out.
The officers involved demonstrated exceptional bravery and dedication to protecting the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, and their actions deserve our highest praise.
However, as we continue to face rising crime rates, I believe it’s crucial for our police to take even more forceful measures when dealing with violent offenders. Criminals who threaten the safety of our people and our communities should be met with the full strength of the law, including lethal force when necessary.
The message must be clear: Antigua and Barbuda will not tolerate lawlessness, and those who engage in criminal activities should expect severe consequences.
In addition to empowering our police force, I urge our authorities to take stronger action against the growing threat of foreign criminals, particularly those from other CARICOM countries like Jamaica, who come to Antigua with the intent to commit crimes.
We must tighten our borders, enhance our vetting processes, and ensure that those who enter our country do so with lawful intentions. It is vital that we protect our island from individuals who seek to exploit our hospitality and bring harm to our communities.
The safety and security of Antigua and Barbuda are paramount, and we must do everything in our power to preserve them.
I call on our government, law enforcement, and immigration authorities to work together to stop foreign criminals from entering our country and to ensure that our police force is fully supported in their efforts to keep us safe.
Let us stand united in our commitment to protecting our nation and its people. The time for decisive action is now.
Sincerely,
not a yaadie

I concur and stand with this letter writer.
We must commend our Police forces who put their lives on the line to protect and serve.
I fully agree with the actions of the police. I however don’t agree with stating or singling out Jamaica as if the country is the university of criminals. Criminals are everywhere even more so here in Antigua. The difference is the type of criminals born here or buy citizenship.
White color crimes is still a crime. Ppl loose their hard earned $ even their life because of this crime. YES Jamaicans have criminals, as little as St. kitts is they are riddled with gun crimes. Jamaica send guns here? I would encourage all to read the book Caribbean Time Bomb and learn a lil history.
I understand that immigration is a hot topic everywhere in the world these days but lets not overlook the effect that social media, music videos, etc. have in glamorizing the criminal lifestyle, especially in the US and Jamaica and how that has been received by some impressionable and gullible people who were born in Antigua, influenced by it and look at it as “cool”. That mindset has been exported around the world so it should not be a surprise that it has hit our small island in the way that it has recently. The youth of today need a lot more guidance than the youth of decades ago.
As a law abiding Jamaica non national living here in Antigua and Barbuda,I don’t who it is, once they involve in criminal activities they should be punish…
We can’t afford a beautiful, and peaceful island Antigua and Barbuda 🇦🇬 which open her door to many caricom citizens, and provide jobs as well, become a place for gangsters…
We must help the government, and law enforcement officers fight crime…
STEEP IN IGNORANCE…? – WANT OF WISDOM…?
Lest it be misunderstood, as a former professional, neither ‘…DEFENDING FAITH,’ nor ‘…ENCOURAGING FATE.’
GIS PHOTO: SNOBBING BY OMISSION…?
Interesting photo, ‘…Courtesy Government Information Service (GIS).’
Capturing some of the most ‘…Committed: …Dedicated: and Devoted ‘…CRIMEFIGHTERS.’
Clearly, a ‘…SNOBBING BY OMISSION’ of: ‘…Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney QPM’ and ‘…Deputy Commissioner, Albert Wade.’
QUESTIONS:
Is this deliberately featuring the reported ‘…POLICE DEATH SQUAD:’
(a) ‘…Established by ‘…Deputy Commissioner of Police, ALBERT WADE,’ with
responsibility for ‘CRIMEFIGHTING:
(b) …Reportedly without knowledge and approval of Commissioner of Police, thereby
angered him:
(c) …That allegedly ‘…SNUFFED’ out the life of ‘…JAMAICAN’ social media- Tik Toker

SOM TING WONG
Clearly, ‘…Som darn ting wong’ (Vernacular). Had ‘…GIS DROPPED SHORT?’
(d) ‘…Who in this photograph is: (i) ‘…Commissioner of Police, ATLEE RODNEY QPM:

It is obvious that the ‘…LETTER WRITER’ is ‘…STEEP AND WALLOWING IN IGNORANCE,’ and ‘…WANT OF WISDOM.’
EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING…?
He/she shall know that ‘…Crimefighting has ‘…NEVER’ been about ‘…EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING.’
NOW:
Had it been so, there would have been ‘…NO NEED’ for ‘…INSTITUTIONS’ as:
(a) ‘…The Magistracy and Magistrates:
(b) …The Judiciary: Chief Justice: Judges: and Masters:
(c) …Criminal Assizes for ‘CRIMINAL TRIALS-JUDGE/JURY OR ‘JUDGE ALONE:
(d) …PUBLIC PROSECUTORS:
(e) …Defence Attorneys and ‘…QUACK LAWYERS.’
Moreover, there would have been no Department of Government called: ‘…MINISTRY OF JUSTICE AND LEGAL AFFAIRS’ and no person officially titled: ‘…ATTORNEY GENERAL.’
JUNGLE WARRIORS AND JUNGLE JUSTICE
That which would have obtained is ‘…JUNGLE WARRIORS’ meting out ‘…JUNGLE JUSTICE.’
This is ‘…NOT’ obtain in a ‘…CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY.’
WILDS OF AFRICA.’
This is obtained ‘ONLY’ in:
(i) ‘…The ‘…WILDS OF AFRICA: and back then in ‘…ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
(ii) …SLAVE PLANTATIONS.’
Do know that some people still have, or still embrace the same ‘…MENTALITY.’
They will not free-up their minds.
This is ‘…21st CENTURY CIVILIZED ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA.’
TIME TO FREE-UP THE MIND. How say you, ‘…My Esteemed Attorney Friend, ‘…CHARLES TABOR?’
Send them all back to Jamaica disrespectful thinking they can come here and turn it into what Jamaica is idiot
this is not enough, they can do more..start more stop and search run in these fete and clubs guns always there after a fete block all exits and search everybody car…
I agree with the editor. Even though you also have white color crimes, your life is not at risk compared to armed robbery.
I want to offer my absolute support to the men and women of our Police Force who are on the front line protecting us against these criminals. This is not the Antigua or even world of 10 years ago. This is gun time. Our police put their lives on the line every day with poor resources. I hate to be xenophobic but we need to vet the Jamaican men between 18 and 40 coming into Antigua. Sorry but truthfully to say, but guns and murder is their way of life. They come to a country for a few weeks or months rob and kill and move on. Remember the rapist who terrorized our women and all the rapes suddenly ended. We later put 2 and 2 together when he left here and went to Dominica where he was killed.
