LETTER: For over a year now and still cannot get my Social Security pension

1. Is this a joke?

   We are supposed to take this as a real story, yet you neglected to say what Social Security told YOU is the reason?

   You want us to believe that you waited over a year, are therefore starving, yet made no inquiries and have nothing to share on the response by Social to your inquiries?

   UPP needs to get better writers, though I must admit that throwing in the jab over rent was a nice touch. Perhaps someone will latch on to that even though Social Security themselves have announced that they are liquid and servicing all pensions on time.

   You can always recycle this letter, add some more spice, wheel and come again.

2. Omg, this can’t be true – can it? You mean to tell me the government that spent $1.5 million recently on a concert have an elderly person waiting on her social security money for more than a year?! Aren’t they concerned if this lady can feed herself? What kind of uncaring, heartlessness is this? What is this government’s priority? Is it keep them entertained so they won’t notice what we’re not doing?

3. This is unacceptable! People have worked hard and deserve to receive their pensions on time.

4. How can pensioners survive without their rightful payments? The government must address this ASAP! I hate Nonsense. SMH

5. If the system is broken, fix it! People shouldn’t have to fight for what’s rightfully theirs.

6. I hope this letter gets the attention it deserves. No one should have to beg for their pension.

7. They use they money for their own personal interest, they don’t care. I still can’t get my survivors benefits for over 2 years… them too wicked. Gaston and his party are a bunch of greedy soulless beings…he blatantly showing this..

I would not say the writer is not saying the truth because i know someone who had a baby a year ago and is still waiting on maternity leave .i myself had a baby last year and wverytime i call is one excuse “we are waiting on informarion from your employer “.call my employer they say they nah recieve any call frim social security .is it fair that we are paying our dues and when it is time to get back it’s an issue

9. I have heard that some people have been told that a number of people have to die in order for them to start getting pension, when Social Security was in their own Building a friend from Bethesda said they told him 8 people would have to die before he could start receiving his

Franz, Mr. Night, Pringle, Richard, Shuggy, Giselle, Wehner we need yall to get on this Social Security situation… they take this money from our wages without fail but don’t want to pay thier dues when it’s required and the stupid Kool Aid drinkers who are suffering the same fate are silent because of their party loyalty… get this man out of office now GASTON HAVE SOME HUMANITY!! Stop the greedy behavior.

11. May this be a lesson to other employees. Put aside some of your earnings in a pension funds. Don’t rely on social security for any pension because it really is a Ponzi scheme.

12. This is sad if true. Hopefully the situation gets resolved soon. Given how broken the system can apparently be at times, definitely important to invest in the future and in retirement in many different ways in case a person needs something to keep them going until social security kicks in.

13. Gaston we see you’re boasting with your farm. South mall, your rented property in Jolly harbour, and now building a massive house you looking out for your self taking from our salaries and doing nothing with it but enrich yourselves…… Clean up the police force, transport board, public works, motor pool, stop the abuse and misuse of government vehicles . stop having people on all these boards for doing nothing…collecting big checks..social security, medical benefits, education levy system is broken. Why the hotel workers thrift fund statements are not current and from July 2024. Why are you just digging people pockets so you can live a better quality of life? Why all the greed and corruption??

15. Since last year September I applied for my pension. I have not heard a squeak from SS. I call and they tell me I have to be VERY patient, no timeline, no nothing. And the Prime Minister is now going to raise Vehicle licensing fees by 40%, but I can’t get my pension? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. How do they expect people to pay bills and taxes if the Government doesn’t pay us what we are entitled to first?

16. First, I would like to clarify the assertions in your letter to this office. It is factual that there was a significant backlog owing to COVID-19, which has impacted pension processing. We are happy to inform you that the ABSSB has successfully cleared that backlog and is now processing claims for the last quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025. If you have not received an update on your claim, I will urge you to contact the office but be assured that the standard practice is to contact the beneficiary to provide an update when officers are processing a claim. The ABSSB has committed itself to promptly processing all claims as we are mindful of the urgent need for funding and the fulfilment of our mandate. We remain strident in our efforts to respond to all your queries promptly and factually. Where there is knowledge of officers falling short of that objective, please share the instance and employee name as this will be addressed. We continue to “Grow to Provide for You”.

17. @Director of ABSSB a very diplomatic answer but I have been waiting for survivors benefits since 2023, I have called and visited your office on multiple occasions and up to now nothing, its the same robotic responce.. This is ridiculous now because you don’t fail to deduct from people’s paychecks and have even increased contributions recently….stop using Covid as an excuse because there had to have been a surplus.. y’all are too damm dishonest an scampish in this country deducting money from people’s salaries but fail to issue payments in a timely manner…this scheme is seriously broken and “Growing to Provide for Yourselves”. You deserve to have scores of people picket your office everyday until you pull up your socks. That money should not be used for anything else but its intended purpose. But there’s a lack of transparency and accountability in this country.
