Jobs are scarce, cost of living high, unemployment is high, health care and the education system are overburdened, tax burdens killing us, crime rate is climbing, electrical power is unstable, water is almost non-existant, and the list goes on. Even though you hear that the economy is the fastest growing in the OECS the ordinary Antigua don’t feel nor see it, public servants have to pay additional taxes in order to get a pay raise. I don’t understand if this person doesn’t have money for airfare or upkeep why she so desperately want to come to Antigua. It’s much more expensive to live in Antigua than in Dominica. Things are cheaper there and there is no guarantee that it will be better for her in Antigua. Antigua is already overpopulated. Why Antigua? Why not St. Kitts or St. Lucia or Martinique?

10. The stupidity of this article is that the law of the Free Movement of Caribbean is so clear. No one needs to have a sponsor to travel to any CARICOM Island. You can stay for six months easily. And given her profession she can be given a work permit and work in the domestic industry or in the hotel industry or security service. ANR can you guys come better than this.

    • And you are still not 100% accurate. Dominica and Antigua are members of the OECS which has FREE movement within the OECS. She does NOT need a passport or skills certificate to travel there. When she gets there the stamp says INDEFINITE STAY. Not 6 months. Seems like Antiguans and the other OECS countries fail to realize that they can walk in and out of another OECS country to live and work just as if they are still in their country.
