Dear Editor,
It’s time for Gisele Isaac and Jamale Pringle to go, and I call on right-thinking UPP supporters to rally together to make this happen.
Now.
Not three months before a general election.
Right now!
The UPP had a good run. Under the leadership of Baldwin Spencer, Lester Bird was defeated and the UPP secured two terms in the sunshine before the tide turned. Harold Lovell then tried his best, making it to within six votes of victory before resigning a week later.
Today, the house that Baldwin built has been stricken by disunity, disorganization, delusion and defections. Defecting from or abandoning the UPP is one thing, whatever the reasons. Even if we ignore that issue, no right-thinking supporter can endorse kicking longstanding party members out of the Executive without any valid reason.
I was shocked but not surprised to learn of the latest casualties of Gisele Isaac’s ongoing post-convention purge: Desmond Charles and Charlesworth Tabor.
Desmond Charles has been a key UPP strategist over the years, and made exceptional contributions towards the cause, from polling, to billboard construction, to directly supporting candidates when business community donations were few. Most, if not all General Council members are aware of this. Without Brother Desmond, the almost-victory of 2023 would not have happened.
Charles Tabor has also been with the party for many years, giving legal advice, standing on the picket line, supporting events, just keeping the faith despite the issues like many of us.
So what mortal sin caused their purge?
There is only one mortal sin in the UPP of today: failing to shut up and blindly follow failed leadership. This mortal sin is obvious to all who still listen to the filth and vitriol spewed from Crusader Radio against anyone who offers any constructive criticism, on any platform. No matter how big your reach or influence, if you question the obvious issues with the UPP leadership in any way, shape or form, you are on the firing line!
After all the bloodletting since the last UPP Convention, do Isaac and Pringle truly believe that further disrespect and disunity will strengthen the party they claim to love?
Does alienating a key strategist and major contributor make sense ahead of a critical by-election?
The answers are obvious to everyone but Isaac, Pringle, and the brain-dead acolytes who give them aid and comfort in resisting positive change.
To a majority of supporters, it has already become very clear that Isaac and Pringle have completely lost it. They have zero concern for the prospects of the party: not for its cohesion, not for its reputation, and certainly not for its political viability.
We must also ask what kind of “leader” would allow Gisele Isaac to continue steering UPP on course of division and destruction. Has the “UPP safe seat” Pringle inherited from the late Charlesworth Samuel gone to his head?
As others have already stated, Pringle owes his two victories to party loyalty cultivated by the strong representation of Charlesworth Samuel, not himself! This inheritance has been totally squandered by his ineffective representation and uninspiring leadership.
Our nation is calling for leaders who are unifying, strategic and seen to be capable of steering the ship of state, not those hiding behind Women’s Forum cult members or in the shadow of their predecessor.
Time is running out, and the final moment where change has a meaningful chance to deliver hope is almost upon us.
We can no longer tolerate “me nah move”, while Rome burns.
We must reject the gaslighting and pleas for “Little Black Boy” sympathy. Countless little black boys and girls have risen to competence and service in our twin-island state, striving for performance, not pity.
The time to make the hard decisions to secure meaningful change is now!
Over to you, Brother Lovell.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock…
UPP and Upset

Oh please, no-one is falling for this disguised hit piece, especially when there’s a by-election coming up in 10 days time. Come on now!
And why is this undermining of the opposition (and a very strong woman as well, I might add) by a so-called UPP supporter – which I doubt very much -, wanting to give the ABLP a heads-up before the crucial vote in the St Phillip’s North by-election?
Some of these nasty and vindictive opinion letters really reminds me of what took place before the last General Election.
But I’ll say it again to the constituents of SPN, “hold your nerves, stand firm, and go to the polling station and put an end the 50-year-old Yearwood/Bird-Browne dynasty.
The SOUL OF THE COUNTRY is in your hands 🗳
@ OK Gaston and ABLP and UPP and Upset
Aren’t you fakers and deceivers tired of trying to sow distrust and distraction.
U feeling the heat in St Phillips North?
I smell desperation.
Over to who? Brother Lovell?
Not he. He so scared that they will fight him down. He don’t dare raise his voice in the chairman party.
Nobody notice how quiet he is? What a disappointment.
When a leader fails to reach across the aisle to get essentials done in his constituency… to vote for “non-performance” does not represent our interest.
Pringle NO!
Why UPP’s internal business is always on the street?
Shitclaat fe brains shittin the upp
Why would anyone reply to such ĺies
Put your name to your letter and I will read it twice. Me just can’t understand why people speak so passionate about something and then hide behind an alias. Tabor always put his name so I will read tabor letters many times. Secret supporters and undercover spy I don’t like
One set of bullshit in this diatribe by an ABLP Jackass trying to sore cheap points for his/her Party in the upcoming bi-election. Were I a UPP supporter and care about the Paty I would be brave enough to sign my name which tells me you are a LIAR and a COWARD and really exposing your corrupted DUTTY RED DRAUS
The CHAOS DEMON strikes again. The MESS of UPP is glaringly evident in the POOR CAMPAIGN ongoing with Alex “voted NO to Cancer Centre” Browne.
Posters went up late. Billboard went up extremely late. PISS POOR TURNOUT at rallies.
Pearl “FOOTS” Quinn CRYING “We’re not ready”
I had warned my fellow blogger that his son has more balls than him. Young Tabor has backbone and had enough of the dictatress.
Time to increase the calls for the APRIL CONVENTION CONSTITUTIONALLY DUE
was this written by the UPP Lady that MASH UP TOURISM ??
She just jealous of the good Dame. Those overseas people want to call the shots, but they don’t put in any work. They just want the glory for themselves.
see…all of the commentators trashing the script…JUST like what it said…once you criticize, you are ostracized. Guess they learn from Giselle.
As soon as anything comes to this page and it’s not in keeping with UPP people, they say is ABLP people writing and hiding. Bare aryou chafe man. People have feelings, and whether they want to put their name or not, it’s their right. Cha. UPP is just horrendous right now. Bunch a headless chickens. Y’all can come for me. At his point, I’m over UPP.
How can two individuals hold a national political party hostage? It’s only because the all others are cowards.
While I agree with much of the writers position, the unanswered question is who are the enablers and what are their motivations.
It’s clear that the UPP has very little to offer with regards to policies that is any different from the ALBP while they wait for Gaston to be indicted by the US.
This incompetence and nauseating naïveté is evident by the issues that gets the UPP leadership excited.
First they thought the Alpha Nero was going to be the undoing of Gaston Browne.
Later, the UPP kicked up a lot of noise regarding the Bronco fiasco which Gaston has suavely put to rest in a cloud of smoke.
Another issue that UPP thought was a winner is: The US government restrictions on Antigua and Barbuda travel visas; and the Maduro kidnapping was supposed to ensnare Gaston Browne and led to his indictment, as an accomplice to money laundering with the and PDVCab and The CIP program.
The UPP may have had a storied past, but today they are fiddling with the future of Antigua and Barbuda
When you all cant have your way with a person , you want them to get kicked out. Well im a Labor party fan n I respect Pringle n hes adamant. Stay where u are Mr Pringle ,they dont like competition. If Allsaints road nuh repair n the streets lights by the time election calls we nah vote fi Labour. Plus apua need fi stop rob for ppl.
IS GASTON STACHE BROWNE THE WRITER OF THIS SO CALLED LETTER?
All the UPPites here cursing the writer and making accusations. But not one of them denying the content of the letter. Kill the messenger but did you get the message?
@ Otto,
Me Bex… Why?
My comments were to challenge those who I know would view the letter as ALBP agitation.
Me bex for I was ignored and I did not have good things to say about UPP. I was ready to duck from bullets and no one fired at me.
I have a distaste for Gaston Browne as anyone else. Sugar coating the state of UPP is a disservice to Antigua and Barbuda people.
UPP is a troubled institution
The individuals who coined the phase and keeps it alive that “Pringle is the duly elected leader” are as selfish as Gaston Browne.
They are hoping the US takes out Gaston with an indictment.
They have no plan or policies to offer the people who want to get rid of Gaston. That’s the reality right now.
Yes Pringle is a problem for the UPP winning a general election, but the pictures of the two people with the article, WEHNER and GISELE, are problems as well. With them weilding such influence in the Party it is doomed and the comeback of Harold Lovell makes no difference since he has no power and is generally a coward.
I read this and my first thought was they deserve the bad treatment. When others were badly treated, these two joined the gang and stoned them. As an ABLP supporter, I am happy with the direction the UPP is headed. Yes a part of me would says competition helps strengthens you but the fact is that this country cannot risk having UPP in office. I do however wish Tabor and Charles all the best and pray they will use this as a opportunity to grow
@Tenman your comment has given me some laughter on this lovely Saturday afternoon. Pray tell who were those treated badly by the UPP and I joined the gang and stoned. My brother my views are invariably at variance with the leadership of the UPP. I am an independent thinker and will never be a blind loyalist in any group. I can recall an issue when Richard Lewis gave a question to Trevor Walker to ask in Parliament, since he was absent and the Party raked him over the coals because they felt he should have given the question to Jamal Pringle instead. I later found out that a resolution was moved at a Central Executive meeting to censure Richard Lewis for his action. I immediately wrote a legal opinion indicating the nonsensical and groundless action taken by the Central Executive. That is just one example but there are more. Anyway, thanks for wishing me well but I really do not need it. I am usually very well both physically and mentally and for that I give thanks.
I always have the utmost respect for you, Mr. Charlesworth Tabor, Esz. Though we’re on opposite sides politically, I admire your legally trained mind in addressing issues of importance as an opposition should. I believe that you have always shown maturity in your discourse. Your writings are thought provoking as they serve a different view.
My unsolicited advice is that the UPP in its current form will have to rebrand under a different name by perhaps merging with the DNA to create more firepower as an opposition.
I am convinced that this article was written by DSW from Montclair, New Jersey Jersey I know her style. Has she visited Antigua in the ten years? Ask yourself that question and see where your thoughts land.
Your son has made a bold move and is reaping the benefits of his worth. You can do the same because there’s room for you. The ABLP is about building a viable network of individuals who have a contribution to make to our country’s growth and development, despite the naysayers who are usually at the lower end of the totem pole. See you at the top.
