LETTER: Country in Frenzy Over Orden. What About Noah, Kyle and Rest?

Dear Editor,

I feel incredibly frustrated with the way people are reacting to the news about the LGBTQ Oden David being reported missing.

It’s hard to understand the overwhelming hysteria surrounding this case when we’ve seen so little concern for others who have been missing for far longer.

Why is there such an intense frenzy, even from government officials, over someone who’s been gone for just 24 hours?

Take Kyle Peters, for example. His family has been living in agony, unable to sleep, for over a year as they search for their loved one.

Where was the massive outpouring of support for him? What about Noah Hurst?

The disparity in attention given to these cases is maddening. It feels like society picks and chooses who deserves our outrage and compassion, and it’s infuriating to witness.

Every missing person deserves that same urgency and concern, regardless of their identity or the circumstances.

This selective outrage only perpetuates a narrative that some lives matter more than others, and that’s deeply troubling.

  1. I feel sorry for the dark soul that wrote this letter. Orden was known by MANY!! and is LOVED by many.

While every case deserves to be investigated you cannot be mad at people who SUPORT people they know and love!!! ……

    Gimmie a break!………….. chupts!

  2. Thought it was just me that was thinking this. This is like when everybody was boasting about how they helped Haiti…and Haiti got…nothing

  3. Thank you for your article.. THE DEVIL IS REAL… we pick and choose who we give respect to.. such a useless world we live in today … where people love Dogs and all other things more than a human being .. they are people out here that’s employed by the devil …

  4. the frenzy over Orden suggests a deeper issue of media and public focus. Perhaps this is a sign that we need a more balanced approach to how we prioritize news and celebrate accomplishments across the board

  5. The letter brings up an important perspective—why the country seems to be fixated on Orden while individuals like Noah and Kyle aren’t receiving the attention they deserve. It’s great that the public is passionate about certain topics, but I think it’s a missed opportunity when other notable figures are sidelined. However, rather than just focusing on the disparity, it would be more productive to see more public platforms and media outlets equally recognize all talents and achievements. Let’s shift the spotlight to include a wider range of stories.

  6. May God take care of our children, our elderly, our young people, our women, who guarded and protected the ancient and valuable island, let us pray for Antigua, it is the best

  7. Mouth open & Torie jump out only when the incident affects them or their love one. Real Sad!!

The incident with the well known radio host ” mother’s misfortune ” always comes to mind.

It was only when the pig got hit with a stone, the loud squeal was then heard…

All lives should matter regardless of the relationship.

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

  8. Totally agree with this letter as well. I think all the other missing persons has family who loved them as well, yet no Government officials not one showed this much concern. ALL LIVES MATTER!!! ALL. I pray he’s found safe, but what has become of the investigation into the murder of those 2 young ladies? It just dead so? especially since one got more Government official attention than the other.

  9. It is only appropriate that the same treatment is afforded to all missing persons cases. I do believe that is the case in Antigua and Barbuda. Some may believe otherwise but it is only as a result of their hatred and prejudices towards others. It is rather unfortunate that the writer thinks that way. I to have my beliefs, as I am always of the opinion that when an adult (male or female) or young male goes missing the worst has come to past, but you can only hope for the best. I pray that all those who are alive and missing are reunited with their loved ones. While the reminds of those who have passed on are found so that their loved ones can have closure. I also pray for a society of love and not one of hatred. I will leave by saying that I hope the writer finds comfort in the almighty.

  10. It’s very troubling to hear of so many people are going missing in Antigua
Could it be a Serial Killer is on a Spree?
These disappearing is out of Character in Antigua Authorities need to take a hard look at these cases
Time to call in the FBI or Scotland Yard
This appears to be a Serial Killer or killers operation
Just putting it out there it worth taking a look

  11. Come onn writer …. Of course there should be a level of urgency regarding someone that’s missing regardless of who they are… But the fact remains that once someone is missing that is well known or familiar to the public to an extent – there’s gonna be an increased awareness or sensitivity regarding that missing individual…. If a random person goes missing Vs a minister of government – which one would be more prevalent on social media or any other medium ??????
It’s expected, stop making it seem like it’s something personal.

  12. The power and influence of the LGBTQXYZ Community. The word influence is very important here. Influence on our young people. I dislike and detest Trump but I applaud his decree that there are 2 genders – MALE and FEMALE.
But I hope this person is found safe and sound.

  13. It’s called. DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity), the belief that attributes should be prioritized over accomplishments…something they’re looking to weed out now in the US. Again, I hope all missing persons are found safe and sound and the perpetrators are brought to justice.
