The UPP celebration of Baldwin Spencer was a Jumbie Jamboree, celebrating failure, incompetence and mismanagement.
It was a Jumbie Jamboree because it was based in illusion, fantasy and fiction. None of what they celebrated occurred and no accolade was deserved.
Ten years of the UPP left Antugua and Barbuda financially bankrupt, hugely indebted, no progress in housing, education or health, highest unemployment since the 1930’s, no investor confidence in the country.
It was leadership into the wilderness, into hopelessness, and into a colossal mess. No false claims and self-serving celebrations will change the harsh reality of the UPP’s incompetent governance.
In fact, this Jumbie Jamboree was just devised and developed by Richard Lewis to promote his leadership bid in the UPP.
Did everyone notice that poor Pringle was not in any of the photographs of the official published photos?
So, Baldwin was so great, that suddenly and out of the blue, the UPP remembered to honour him. When he retired there was no fanfare, no official retirement function.
Mr. Spencer should not have allowed himself to be used in this manner. After all, even though his tenure was a disaster for the country, he was still a 2 term Prime Minister and the office must be respected.
This Jumbie Jamboree was not so much about Spencer but more about the disrespect shown to Opposition Leader Jamal Pringle.
He is now learning the hard way how the UPP uses people and then spits them out.

This photo makes me SICK. One day UPP Member of Parliament is STABBING Pringle in the BACK , SIDES and all over His body. The next day They are HUGGING and KISSING each other. This HYPOCRISY at best. How can the nation trust these Guys.
They have no use for Pringle but using Him because He has the only seat in Parliament that can win election. All the others are ONE term MPS. I would predict that UPP might win one seat next election.
I heard Pringle and Richard Lewis in Parliament yesterday. These Guys are getting worst by the day. I would say Richard sounded worst than Pringle. UPP is the worst Opposition We have ever seen in Antigua. They sounded so UNEDUCATED. Hon. Gaston Brown just spit Them out.

Just look at this wondrous, harmonious and amazing UPP group picture – a picture that gladdens the heart of current supporters -, and make the undecided decide on who should really lead the country out of the economic mess and suffering that ALL Antiguans are witnessing at present.

No problem @ JP, I enjoy carrying the flag for the UPP, because I understand the country is in dire need of a change of government.

Please stop fanning a flame, because it will only cook your ALP goose, because ALP can’t decide to hold convention on leadership, and by the way there was no stabbing in Pringle back because if any other upp members won their seats in 2014 a more experience political savvy person would have headed the party, the young man Pringle did well holding the fort, but now we going to war against Gaston and new strategy and leadership is needed, Gaston has comfort zone in hon Pringle that must be interrupted.
