2. The person who wrote this article is as dunce as a rusted doornail in the middle of the Sahara desert. Maybe if you read your Bible and understand what tithes are, you would not have wasted precious valuable time writing it.

3. Respectfully. . .be quiet. A true person of God knows he WILL provide. Tithe is required from God not the churches. If you’re speaking of offerings now, that’s different. However, is the pastor supposed to write a letter to each person in the congregation & say if you’re over a certain age and struggling not to give? Is the pastor knocking on doors begging for these donations from the elderly? Sounds like you’re projecting. Not you begging government to overthrow the word of God. Awdjyt 🤣

4. Without tithes and offering the churches can’t do anything I know of alot of churches give back weekly and monthly to people of the different communities and some of them don’t go to church and the church still give .so I don’t agree with that article

Social Security, Medical Benefits and Education…..hmmmmmm….Comparing them with church tithes…..When u have reached retirement age u will start to receive Social Security pension…..If u get sick and need medication or medical assistance u can get that from MBS, Education contributions goes towards upkeep of schools, supplies etc……..I think A church can ask for donations for upkeep of the church building and property…..There should be no specific amount u give what u can whenever u can…..I don’t agree with churches dictating how much one should donate…..That’s always been my stance…

10. Honey, these ‘Christians’ today don’t care about taking care of the elderly, poor or mentally unstable. That pretty much went out the window when they stopped caring about sin and sound doctrine. 12. A tithe is 10% of your income. You can’t tithe if you don’t have an income. A person is free to give an offering but it is completely voluntary. Jesus himself warned us of false teachers and even false christs so not everything that claims to be Christianity is. Many churches, if not most, take care of their elderly members. They don’t do it to be seen and we all know, we are more likely to notice what we are looking for than what we aren’t

16. The [church], no matter the denomination or ideology, they are a FOR-PROFIT BUSINESS operating under the guise of a non-profit and the catapult to Zion, heaven, nirvana, enlightenment for centuries.
    It’s time to tax the churches, remove whatever concessions, that they get, tax them accordingly, and let’s see how many remain open.

    I…use the newly generated funds to fund:
    (i)….healthcare in particular mental health.
    (ii)…non-partisan Community Centers void of politician control.
    (iii)..law enforcement equipment.

    The [church] does not employ a significant amount of people and most of the work which they require to be done are done so through volunteerism.
    The food which they prepare and serve can be and are easily obtained, as donations from other businesses who’ll write these gifts off on their tax returns.

Wow, unbelievable, I read through the comments some completely and some just partly and having an understand of where the individual commenters stand and for the ones who against the writer those responses was very vicious I wonder what kind of Christian are you. Why be so vicious have an open mind. I am not a church going person but if you look at the situation it sounds very cruel for church members to go around collect tides or accepting tides from poor and elderly persons and not understand their financial status, it is wrong and the churches have to be more considerate about collecting tides and how they treat the poor and needy.
