Leon Riley to Be Sentenced in Retrial for Teen Rape Case

3

Leon Riley, initially convicted of raping a teenage girl in 2019, faces sentencing on Monday after a retrial.

The case was retried following an appeal two years ago. In 2016, he assaulted a 15-year-old near Pensioners Beach, leading to his arrest and charges.

In 2019, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

However, in 2021, the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal overturned his conviction, prompting a retrial.

The new trial resulted in a guilty verdict from seven of eight jurors. Riley awaits his fate as he has been incarcerated awaiting sentencing.

  1. Why is it that a man can rape a woman and then everyone feels sorry for him in sentencing, although he has done irreparable damage to another human being?

  2. Why is it that rapist get more years in prison than a murderer??
15 years in comparation to 9 years for taking a life?? No justice!!!
