Leon Riley Convicted in Teenage Girl’s Rape Case After Retrial

8

Leon Riley has been found guilty for the second time of raping a teenage girl. He was initially convicted in 2019 after forcing himself on a 15-year-old girl near Pensioners Beach.

However, his conviction was overturned by the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal in 2021 due to reliance on the common law rule of recent complaint, which had been abolished by Section 28 of the Sexual Offences Act.

A retrial was ordered and, despite the defendant’s and his lawyer’s efforts, he was found guilty by seven out of eight jurors.

  1. Too bad you didn’t get some street justice for your act before the law got you. Hope they throw away the key.

    • @Mercy less.

He will serve a meager 5 years then come out and run on UPP ticket in the same constituency where his victim was born and raised!

      • No, he can’t get 5 years because the guidelines don’t allow that. He is looking at 15 to 16 years.

  2. Excellent candidate for UPP!
