SOURCE: ANTIGUA OBSERVER- The legal representatives for two young men caught with a quantity of marijuana will make legal arguments to the court to get the charges against their clients dropped.
The lawyers, Michael Archibald and Warren Cassell, have also asked for full disclosure from the prosecution.
The police arrested and charged the duo with possession and other cannabis-related charges after they were caught with the substance last weekend.
Cassell is of the opinion that his client should not have been charged as he is a member of the Nyabinghi movement and the substance is used as a sacrament.
Additionally, there was a Cannabis Festival last week and the young man was reportedly transporting the substance as part of the event to a particular location.
What made this year’s festival unique was that special permission had been granted for public consumption of specific portions of cannabis during the event.
“Day two was a sacramental gazetted event, which allowed the space to be used for the religious activities,” Regis Burton, CEO of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) said during an earlier interview with the Observer.
“On a usual basis, we do not allow; it’s not lawful for someone to consume cannabis in a public space, but for this festival, we would have gotten the permission from our minister responsible for cannabis, the attorney general,” he added.

Huh🤔
what about other pending cases.
Marijuana laws are so outdated. Let’s move forward, please.
This whole thing sounds like a waste of everybody’s time and money.
Marijuana shouldn’t even be a big deal anymore.
