Lawyer gives PSC deadline to reinstate Wendell Robinson

PM Browne congratulates Robinson after his appointment as commissioner

Queens Counsel Sir Richard Cheltenham has given the Police Service Commission until April 20, 2018, to reinstate suspended Commissioner of Police Wendel Robinson.

Robinson was suspended on April 5 as the commission investigates complaints against him.

In his letter addressed to Chairman of the Police Service Commission Sir Richard argues that the suspension of Robinson was unlawful.

The lawyer for Robinson argues that the Commission has no authority to suspend the commissioner without having first laid a complaint or charge against him.

The QC argues that due process was not followed because Robinson, who is also a lawyer, was not afforded an opportunity to comment on the allegations made against him before the suspension.

The veteran lawyer wants Robinson reinstated effective April 5, the day of his suspension.

  1. So how is that investigation going? Investigator in place yet? Come on PSC get your act together and do something or resign. This is ridiculous.

  2. What he is not comfortable not seeing his male compadrees deport him back to st Vincent we don’t want no aggressive anti here he can sue and sue all he want he really dont love noo THAM sue ….our country dont need this man at the head of our security force

    • Deport him back to Vincy on what grounds?? What law did he break for him to be deported?? Some of you just love to post crap. Like or hate him he has been serving in the force for over 30 years. Like or hate him even if he is a homosexual he had given most of his adult life serving this country more than some you you empty vessels will do. The guy if innocent until proven guilty.

  3. I AM WONDERING NOW IF APPLE DAN THE POLICE OFFICER THAT WAS LOCKED UP AND CHARGED FOR ROBBERY AND WAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS AND LATER ACQUITTED BY THE APPEAL COURT WAS A SET UP WE HAVE TO START LOOKING AT THAT ,,,,COULD IT BE HE HAD TURNED DOWN ADVANCES?????,,JUST ASKING A QUESTIONS??????????

  4. I guess when we buckle under public pressure we fail to do the legally right thing. And with a lawyer like my friend Johnny Cheltenham, whom we saw at work closely during the MBS enquiry you can bet they will lose if their is one slip of the law and the procedures. And according to the news brief tonight on ABS this is the first salvo that has been launched. The Treasury of Antigua would be bankrupt very soon.
As I always say public opinion is just that public opinion. And you cannot run government through public opinion. Most of the time the public does not even have the full story. Media houses should really take their responsibility more serious. The PSC never said what he has been suspended for, yet the press was quick to report the same.

    • I agree with you. The public was quick to jump to conclusion and PSC jump the gun and took actions. Just because most of the nay sayers don’t like/love Commissioner Roberson. Now shit has hit the fan lets see the end result. I see a lawsuit in the wings and of course the empty vessels going to make the most noise.

      • One thing I have learnt is that democracy is not run in the street of public opinion neither is the rule of law. Democracy is run in our Parliament and the rule of law is run in our courts

  5. I am not familiar with the procedure…but any decent, professional and honest individual would not have a problem being suspended under these allegations. The far removed you are as head of an investigative arm, the better you will be to regain your creditability. Caused you already know if you are cleared, you will be fully compensated. Goodness… Gracious…. Stay far away until the investigation is complete… caused your creditability is more important than a job.

  6. Let him sue. The PSC has much more on him than they let on.

Vampire killer escaped and may have killed while in the run
ATM scammer absconded and fled country
Record rise in crime for 2017 most murders on record for a single year
Some Criminal element in force are mostly Vincentians and have moved up the ranks rapidly
Lots more ‘pressured ‘ officers in the force waiting in the wings to come forward
Israeli attempted murderer absconded ****(pending verification)
Jamaican murderer living and working in Antigua undetected for over a year.
Numerous missing persons cases still unsolved – Vincia still missing

At the end of the day the public and police force have lost confidence and respect in the ex commissioner and he can no longer carry out his duties impartially. He is now damaged goods and a the target of homosexual jokes and not even the kings men can put him back together again.
    Let him sue.

    • And for that reason alone that he is character is damage for life he will get plenty money from out Treasury. And that thanks to the news media who couldn’t resist in bringing this into the public domain without mentioning names.
