Labour Party Loyalist’s Daughter Appeals to ABLP for Help in Burying Mother

18

Yajaira Reyes, the daughter of a dedicated Antigua Labour Party (ALP) supporter, seeks assistance from the party for her mother’s funeral, despite doubts about her wish being fulfilled.

Cruz Francis, a long-standing Labourite who lived in Martin’s Village for over 35 years, passed away recently.

Reyes, disappointed by her MP Molwyn Joseph’s lack of response, expresses her mother’s unwavering love for the ALP.

While opting for a modest burial package, Reyes longs for a grand funeral fitting for her mother’s dedication.

She tearfully emphasizes the need for proper recognition, appealing to the ALP to honor her mother’s legacy.

  1. First, my condolences on your loss but people in Antigua have to get sharper than this. This idea that our party goes into power and they become responsible for footing our personal bills, needs to die. Your mom was a stalwart of the party while she was alive but did not put things in place to cover her burial? If your party is in power and the only way you survive is by running behind them, you aren’t truly empowered. Get your house in order regardless of who is in power. If your money isn’t sitting right, and your social mobility isn’t solid regardless of who is in power, what’s the point?

    • I completely agree with you. There are some things being associated with a party brings when they are in power, and I do not believe paying for supporters funeral is one of them.

I can understand if you have an application pending with a government agency and you need a minister or senator in the party push for such application to be decided on the merit and expeditiously. But believing you are entitled to these politicians paying for funerals only because you are a supporter is not correct.

In my will, I made know that no one should use no more than $500 to bury me. I do not want no $20,000 coffins and $100,000 ceremony.

I want my money that I work hard for to be used on living people who are in need of food, medicine, education and other necessities.

Why have $20,000 spent on a coffin that will decay when moving folks need help with medical cure and bills?

If any family member or government use my money or their money to pay for a lavish funeral for me, they will be disinherited.

My dead body can be placed in a card board box, and my money use to take care of my living family and others in need.

  2. Since when are political parties responsible for paying for the burial of members of the public? People take this thing too far. Why didn’t the Mother or the family take out a funeral expense insurance policy to cover the funeral costs rather than rely on political allegiance? They are cheap.

  3. Give her a state funeral. Few years from now make her a national hero. After all she is openly admitting that she supports a cult.

  4. Economic Poorhouse, the Labourites poor, poor. While the Gastonites jump from UPP and getting rich. The enrichment scheme just ask Chet, Melford, Namba, Winston, Lamin, Colin the Flip Flop pancak, Evergreen the Biltmore Whore, Driftwood, Dean and now the latest some wannabe “Shugy” name Dwayne. I am wondering what the Labourites like Mary Clair have to say, when the top dawg cut, she enrichment.

  5. @ Yajaira Reyes my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. That is a void can never be refilled.

Now as to your request to the ALP Administration to help you bury her…. sister lets us know how that works out for you.

I suggest your better at opening a gofundme account. Good luck!!

  6. ok well if Gaston wanted to help that idiot J’Truth why not at least contribute something to this funeral 🙄

  7. No no… they painted this exact picture when they “bribed” their constituents. I’m not sure it’s true i hear ppl saying it hence why i put it in quotes.

Soo when they bribe obviously they think you’ll help them do anything

You painted the picture now continue to sell it😗

  8. I AM SURE THAT LADY VOTED FOR Molwyn Joseph IN JANUARY ELECTION AND HE TURN HIS BACK ON THEM . THAT THE THANKS YOU GET PEOPLE FOR VOTING FOR THEM.

  9. condolenses on ur loss but govt paying for peoples funeral expenses is NOT part of govt portfolio, now it u have a personal friend in politics & he/she wants to pay out of their PERSONAL resources, then thats btwn u n them, but NOT out of the govt coffers, bearing in mind that the money/resources managed my the state belongs to ALL the ppl of the state, and politicians are in fact stewards of the resources so they cant or should not just dip into the country’s money/resources as they like, there has to be transparency and accountability for every cent earned and spent. as for me, when my time comes im cool with going out in a pine box, i mean it still has to rotten out in the ground anyway.

  10. My condolences.
Unfortunately for you, the next election is not next month. So, presently you and your family are not important to the ABLP.

  11. @ All the minions- you have no empathy for your own. You are dissing An ABLP stalwart- but a so fu du dem – Gaston and his Ministers care about no ONE but themselves.
When they couldn’t even give a stimulus in those dark days of covid, you expect them to foot a funeral?
GASTON AND ABLP don’t like poor people- they only care for the rich and famous.

  12. Look what we come too.A family cannot bury a deceased parent. Why do they have to depend on a Political Party? There are certain fundamental matters that are handled within a family. It should not be left up to and or involve no damn Political Party.
