The future of former Superintendent of Police Ray John and his ex-partner, Shakema Charles, in the ongoing passport fraud case remains undecided, with a pivotal ruling set for October 9.
The outcome will determine whether they face a retrial in the High Court or if the case is dismissed altogether.
Magistrate Conliffe Clarke is expected to deliver the decision, which could bring clarity to the case that has seen both John and Charles previously accused of conspiring with St Vincent resident Lonzel Jones to forge passport bio pages using unauthorized Multi-Layered Infilling Sheets in 2018.
Revised charges now focus on conspiracy to forge the bio pages, with John also facing two additional counts of receiving the illicit materials.
Earlier this year, the pair underwent a three-week judge-alone trial in the High Court for the alleged fraud. However, Justice Tunde Bakre acquitted them, ruling that he lacked the jurisdiction to preside over the matter without a jury.

ex-partner???? Since when dem mash up? Because of the fraud case??
If the judge found that he did not have the jurisdiction to offer a verdict as a jury would, why acquit rather than recommend that the case be forwarded to a jury trial. If a jury trial was to find them guilty 1735 they must go the upon completion of said time removal from the country as persona non grata is the way to go.
If the judge doesn’t have the jurisdiction to try the case, how does he have the jurisdiction to acquit? What kind of justice is this? Question is, who is pulling the strings in this case.
What’s become of lonzel jones
