Kelvin Simon Confident As Re-Election Campaign Gears Up For The 100-Day Countdown
After three weeks of propagandizing the legitimacy of Kelvin Simon’s resignation as the Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced that the ABLP is preparing for a by-election in St. Mary’s South.
Simon’s resignation effective 8th June triggered a by-election, which constitutionally must be held within 120 days and he will officially launch his re-election campaign with a Public Rally on 6th July at Bolans Playing Field at 7pm.
During the general elections in January 2023, Simon overwhelmingly defeated incumbent Samantha Marshall, the Antigua Labour Party candidate, by 199 votes.
However, he was later served with a petition challenging his right to sit in Parliament. Simon viewed this legal challenge as a deliberate attempt to frustrate the will of the people and to hijack democracy.
“The constituents of St. Mary’s South elected me convincingly before, and I am confident that they will do so again. St. Mary’s South has been neglected by Samantha Marshall and we are getting ready to send her an even stronger message that her time is up. Under my leadership we will work together to create a future that everyone in the community can believe in and be a part of, “Simon says.
In an environment where good community ideas often get bogged down with politics and bureaucracy, Shugy continues to demonstrate that much can be achieved when the community works together.
Distinguished by his combination of business acumen, creativity and people skills, this former national athlete is well-known as an influencer in the community, who does not wait for things to happen, but makes things happen.
This 15-year veteran in the Public Service in Antigua and Barbuda, served as a guidance counselor at the St. Mary’s Secondary school for six (6) years, Ottos Comprehensive School for two (2) years and the Villa Primary School for seven (7) years. Simon is passionate about developing and mentoring young minds and this remains a major driving force in his commitment to youth empowerment.
During his short tenure as a Member of Parliament, Simon demonstrated his ability to help meet the needs of the community through effective mobilization and partnerships. A well-known community activist, he is the co-founder of “Project Bolans,” a group formed out of love for the community and the desire to see it move in a positive direction. This group routinely organizes sporting tournaments, community clean ups and food distribution drives to support the needy.

I would not be surprised if Samantha stood down as the ALP candidate to avoid the public humiliation. The idea that this PM thought he could hold the people of SMS hostage or install an unelected MP beggars belief.
Shugy will be re-elected. The money Labour plan to spend to buy the election should be spent in the community like opening the clinic. The clock is ticking.
COURT CASE!!!!
Remember the order of things APOSTLE SHUGY SIMON of the NAZARENE CHURCH
Gaston and the 18th Candidate have gotten you people confused and fooled. First, only the Courts can decide, no by-election whatsoever, then the campaign for the elections started and now you with this Court talk again. Think for yourselves; don’t allow the 18th Candidate to translate for you because he doesn’t understand what he reads. He has a streak of senility in his delivery. He needs to stay at home and play with his dogs.
Smh: This time around, she would be beaten into a pulp. The people round South could not and cannot be bought by anyone. Marshall in my opinion is lazy. Last time 199,this time 299 loss.
