Prime Minister Gaston Browne has advocated for one embassy to be in Antigua and Barbuda, but the final decision lies with Harris.

Speculation on the embassy locations has been ongoing since the initial announcement at the US-Caribbean Leaders’ Meeting in The Bahamas last June.

  1. It would be fitting , it would benefit the US again being strategically located being an international hub with two international airports with over a billion dollar investment in Barbuda , Uwi campus and being on the rise boasting extraordinary tourist levels , Antigua has the edge and the good vice President will be fair in her decision

  2. In this day and age having an Embassy is a waste of time and money. An application is submitted online anyway and I am sure that at the time of processing the application that they know whether or not you will be granted a visa or denied. Whether the Embassy is here or not it still costs a lot to apply for a visa.

Time to now move into the 21st century and stop wasting time and money. With all the background checks that they have available to them, I think it’s safe to say travelling to an Embassy is just unnecessary.

  3. so how you submit your fingerprint ? all schengen visas for example must be applied for in person, same for all US visas. In other words: Antigua will benefit a lot from a US Embassy, apart from that – you have to see the bigger political picture. The autocrat China is spreading allover the caribbean and a little weight from the western superpower US can’t hurt at all. Antigua also has over 50% of american visitors via hotels and cruise ships. a US embassy will be able to assist in many cases. So yes, an American Embassy is anything else then useless.
