If you are arguing battered man syndrome, you must have a judge trial. Regular folks no nothing about that and would only look at who did what and when (at the time this person killed this person and that is how untrained folks, jury, look at things). You do not use these innovative and technically defenses with a jury of your peers in a country where people are not usually educationally advanced.

Plus you need experts (psychologist, victimologist, criminologist, social workers, etcetera) as expert witness more than ever for such defense to have any chance of being successful in a community that is hardly advanced in terms of forensic, science, and legal theories.

I can tell you based on what I know now he was not represented properly, who represented this man? He could have been found not guilty or mitigate murder charges to voluntary manslaughter and mitigate punishment.

Alcohol is a drug and it causes changes in human behaviour when taken in excess. It’s easy to take things to the extreme. One person is dead and another one will probably be imprisoned for life. And we move on to the next human calamity.

So “my way of helping” may not be your kind of person; but he is putting forward ideas and concepts that are not commonly uterterlized in the criminal justice system but not local criminal trials.
There are other legal concepts and tools that could be applied in a trail such as this.
Frequently ideas are put forward to be considered as a young developibg nation.
Just because they are not put forward by Cabinet or as a knee-jerk reaction to a crisis does not mean they are not worth expressing.

He made the point about criminal defences; pointing out in today’s world, other tools are available for the prosecutor and the defense to use in a murder case.
With increasing crime in Antigua, he is the only person with a legal background who is willing to render an legal opinion when all the other spinless practicing attorneys has nothing to offer the public, by way of educating the public. The overwhelming majority of whom has attended law school at the public’s experience.
