Jumby Bay Resort Praised For Assistance In The Midst Of The Covid-19 Crisis

It is well known by now that the Hospitality Industry has taken a direct hit as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The airline and hotel industries world-wide are reeling from the effects of the virus, resulting in massive layoffs as well as uncertainty as to when tourism related businesses will be bustling again.

Here in Antigua and Barbuda, the rhetoric is the same, however, there are a few properties that have set the bar with exemplary relief initiatives during these challenging times. One such property is the Jumby Bay Resort Antigua.

The Jumby Bay Fund and Homeowners have assisted the new Antigua Infectious Disease Facility by donating in excess of 1 million EC dollars of supplies in addition to a Medical Compressor and Vacuum System.

Just last Week, the JB Fund delivered 1,004 food parcels to least fortunate families on island, covering 1% of the local population. According to CEO of the Jumby Bay Island Company Ltd, Wayne Kafcsak, each food parcel contained enough food to cover a 28-day period. 27 volunteers were involved in the project.

The Resort has also sought to safeguard the well-being of its staff. Through to October 2020, work schedules have been developed to allow as many employees to work as possible in needed areas. Employees who are not scheduled are to be given a grant which will be paid on a fortnightly basis. Further to this, their health insurance will remain in-tact.

Management of the Jumby Bay Resort says their key focus going forward into the next few months will be to maintain the facility at the highest level in order to be one of the most competitive tourism operations of its kind in the Caribbean at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.
