Health Minister Molwyn Joseph Addresses Air Conditioning Upgrades and Joint Replacement Plans in Pointe FM Interview
During a recent interview on Pointe FM, Health Minister Molwyn Joseph provided an update on efforts to improve infrastructure and services at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center.
At the forefront of discussion were plans for upgrading the hospital’s air conditioning system, followed by insights into forthcoming joint replacement procedures.
Minister Joseph began by acknowledging the challenges posed by the hospital’s air conditioning system.
He outlined ongoing efforts to install air conditioning in critical areas, stressing the importance of building redundancy within the system.
“We have now placed air conditioning in most critical areas of the hospital,” he assured listeners.
However, he noted that work on the central air conditioning system is still underway, with measures being taken to ensure temporary relief until permanent upgrades are completed.
In response to persistent issues with the central air conditioning system, Minister Joseph disclosed plans to implement temporary measures.
“We have already paid for it,” he revealed. “It should arrive here according to the supplier on the 23rd.”
This temporary central facility aims to provide interim relief while permanent upgrades to the system are being finalized, ensuring a comfortable environment for patients and staff alike.
Transitioning to the topic of joint replacements, Minister Joseph expressed confidence in the medical team’s readiness to conduct such procedures.
“Very much so,” he affirmed, “and I anticipate when we reopen the operation theater with the right environment, we’ll be able to do that.”
He reassured the public that necessary doctors and supplies are in place, with the operation theater expected to resume operations within approximately three weeks.
