JetBlue is cutting 17 routes including an Antigua route in 2022

JetBlue is canceling 17 of its routes in 2022.

The airline is mostly cutting routes that it added during the pandemic in the hopes of luring in more passengers even as the number of flights taken dropped. Between January 6, 2020, and January 4, 2021, there was a 43.5% decrease in scheduled flights worldwide.

“As we have throughout the pandemic, we are continually evaluating our route map to ensure it is aligned with customer demand trends and to help us get back to profitability on a consistent basis,” a JetBlue representative told The Points Guy in a statement. “As part of our ongoing review of our network, this spring we’ll end service on 17 routes that have underperformed, and transition a handful of markets to seasonal.”

About 65% of the slashed routes are to Latin American and Caribbean destinations. Three of the 17 routes cut were from Cancun, Mexico, and two were from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Flights to Antigua, Bermuda, and Colombia were also cut. Taking a slightly different tack, two flights from Bozeman, Montana, were also eliminated. This airport sits near several major outdoor destinations, including Yellowstone National Park, and at one point was one of the top-performing airlines in the US.

“Even with these reductions—most of which operated less than daily—we still expect our 2022 schedule to be our biggest ever and we’ll continue to grow our fleet with new aircraft throughout the year,” JetBlue’s statement continues. “At the same time, we remain committed to adjusting our plans based on the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.”

  1. Another airline drops Antigua. Gaston has underperformed as PM and overperformed in creative self-enrichment. Just like JetBlue cut its flights for failure to perform, we need to cut Gaston for lack of performance. Call the election now!

  2. So much for the government’s prediction for a bumper tourist season. Seems to have fallen flat on its face. Airlines leaving Antigua in droves. Hotels struggling to stay open. The only person thriving economically is the PM with his exorbitant rental income, his farm and god knows what other sources of income he has that we don’t yet know about.

  3. Meanwhile Gaston Browne is trolling people on Facebook. She should really focus on getting the country back on track. People need work!

  4. JetBlue is cutting the route from Newark, New Jersey not all travel from the USA & JFK/NYC is very close to Newark – travel & tourism are down everywhere because of Covid

  5. Can see that some of you commenters don’t read it y’all not accustom to booking flights. Jetblu initially started flying to Antigua from JFK. And sad news for y’all THEY STILL DO!! They just cut the EWR to ANU route. Nowhere in the article says they were not coming altogether. Although that would probably sweet some of y’all just to suit your agenda. Smh

    • Yep it’s 2022 and people still not taking their time to read the article never mentioned flights coming from JFK to ANU

    • One can easily differentiate between the bona fide dunces of Antigua and its true loyal, patriots, the former quick to rejoice and in desperation seek to score cheap, filthy political points, the latter naturally expressing concern, optimistic for Antigua’s future and willing to offer meaningful support in times of crisis. Imagine a barrel full of the former types crawling out of its woodwork to try to convince you that they represent the better choice for governance of this country!! Gimme a darn break!

  6. The Airline I have been travelling to Antigua on is still flying. They have not cut any flights into Antigua,American. Plus I do go thru Miami.

  7. Ben Gaston done with you . You are no more useful to him so he throw you under the bus saying you are too old. I don’t know how you guys can take so much insults – he said you are too old to run on his ticket. So what about Cutie , Maulwin and Robin them younger than you. Is it in the constitution of ABLP that the PM can by himself alone decide who is running on the ABLP ticket. If that is now the case the oldest organization in Antigua is now in the hands of dictatorship.
