REAL NEWS: Two people became embroiled in an altercation while at the popular Roadhouse hangout.

Reports say a police corporal telephoned the Freetown Police Station at about 1:40 a.m. and reported a fight between a 37-year-old man from Yorks and a young woman at the entertainment venue.

It appeared that both parties had sustained injuries about their bodies as a result of the incident, which took place at about 1:35 a.m. on May 15.

The officer is said to have requested assistance from his colleagues.

According to reports, the Yorks resident and the woman, a Jamaican national who resides in St. Johnston’s Village, got into a confrontation.

It is alleged that the man was assaulted with a glass bottle by the female – with whom, reportedly, he is not acquainted – and sustained injuries all over his body.

The alleged offender is said to have received several cuts, as well, as she reportedly attacked the victim.

The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was summoned to the scene, but both parties refused to leave with the unit.

However, they were each issued a medical form, which they accepted, to consult a doctor.

  1. As a media practitioner myself, I am sometimes disappointed in the way that some of these news items are presented as if the aim is to disparage, ridicule and shame a certain sector of our society. Many times, the nationality of the perpetrator is overemphasized and quite often the person, though born in another jurisdiction, has already acquired Antiguan citizenship. We have to be careful about always riding on the backs of our fellow Caricom nationals many of whom have contributed to our country’s growth over the years. Just a thought!

    • Audley you are NOT a media practitioner!! You post annoying opinions on Facebook and have clearly overestimated your importance, relevance and how the public views you.

      Stop fooling yourself boss

    • Although many Caribbean nationals may have acquired Antiguan citizenship, they still declare their affinity and identity, firstly to the land of their birth. This is not unusual, even for Antiguans who settle in other countries. Your cultural identity, patriotism for one’s native land, are ingrained and unshakeable for many people, no matter how long ago they may have migrated and acquired new citizenship.

    • @ Sad but true. What an assinine comment. I hope you don’t have kids preparing for exams this and next month imagining thinking like you and writing answers unrelated to the topics. Then you will want to blame the teachers..
