Jamaican wife accused of burning ‘matey’ with Goat Water in Antigua

A Jamaican woman was on Monday remanded in police custody in Antigua and Barbuda after she allegedly burnt her husband’s mistress with goat soup (mannish water) at an event earlier this month. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP.

Annalee Jeffrey, 29, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

A report in the Antigua Observer stated that during the Jamaican’s first court appearance at the All Saint’s Magistrate’s Court, it was revealed that her time in the twin-island nation had expired.

The magistrate is to consider how to approach the case considering Jeffrey’s illegal status in the country.

Allegations are that on June 6, the complainant, who now resides with the accused’s husband, was working with the man at a breakfast fete serving goat soup from a pot on an open fire.

Sometime later, the complainant was grabbed by her hair and pulled backwards, resulting in her falling to the ground.

The pot of goat soup also fell off the fire, burning the woman in the process.

The report said the complainant allegedly received “first degree superficial burns to her hand and face”.

Jeffrey also allegedly received burns to her hands during the incident.

She was remanded and is to appear in court later on Tuesday.

  6. Foreigners (like myself), who marry Nationals, need to be aware that your marriage certificate does not automatically give you citizenship in this fair land. There are laws and regulations that govern your status.
    The National, be they husband or wife, need to show their commitment to their marriage partner by (a) living with that married partner for a prescribed number of years, then (b) filing for their wife or husband’s citizenship in the prescribed manner.
    It would appear that at the time of the incident the husband no longer lived in the marital home. If he no longer wished to remain with his wife he ought to have divorced her and move on with his life and she with hers.
    Also from the reporting even though the wife attacked the girlfriend she did not wilfully cause her to get burned, the pot falling was perhaps as a result of her action and she has to bear the responsibility for that result.
    Finally, ladies, never value anyone more than you value yourself. No matter how much we love someone, male or female, we cannot make them return that love. Accept and move on.
    I was married, I loved my husband unconditionally, but after he proved time and time again that he was not going to be faithful to me, I packaged up my broken heartedness and moved out and moved on. I became a happier person for it. Did I regret that our marriage did not work out? Of course. However, my peace of mind, my respect for myself, a better life for our children meant so much more to me.
    We can always do better – be better.

I wonder about some of you who commenting as if what happened to one cannot happen to another and Jamaican are worse than anyone else a woman is a woman and a man is a man wherever they go everyone had their own personality,qualities, and morals we travels and do things the same way and get deported back to ANU we never talk about that I’m not saying what the lady did was right (pressure bus pipe) no one know the dept of their relationship some people commit, surrender all and give up a lot for their lover/relationship emotionally hurt is greater than a physical one.
    U need to hush u 👄 talking about u don’t like them and u we don’t do these things in ANU but we rape, kill people n drink their blood,burn down houses with children in it, kill an entire family bcz of vanity? We are not perfect and if you are then you can cast the first stone u don’t like them is everyone in Jamaica had done you wrong why u see it fit to broad brush the entire country? It appears as if we are angels n never done wrong and we had never been deported.
    I am a Caribbean citizen and I embrace my caricom bro n sis.
    Again I’m not condoning her action.

    The wife and mate should have been busy setting a schedule instead of embarassing all three at breakfast fete

    Look there are only 1.5 straight men for every 4 straight women based on the fact that LGBTQI is now the norm. So women in this month of celebrating men and week of celebrating fathers, please please please, LOVE and not GOAT each other. Please.
