Police are investigating a shooting incident at Cedar Grove that left a 26-year-old man dead.

Around 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, the body of Kenroy Simpson, a Jamaican national residing at Cedar Grove, was discovered dead in an open pasture, with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, the police received a call and responded to a report of an alleged robbery and kidnapping at his home in Cedar Grove. It was reported that four men wearing masks, and dressed in camouflage clothing, forcefully entered his home which he shared with his girlfriend, and robbed them at gunpoint of an undisclosed sum money. It is further alleged that the assailants forced him into a silver Toyota Platz Motor Car R3295, and drove him to the area where his body was later found.

Police have since recovered a vehicle fitting the description abandoned on Piggott’s Main Road, in the vicinity of the Government’s Motor Pool. The vehicle was seized and taken to Police Headquarters.

Prior to this incident Simpson was arrested and charged for drugs related offences, as well as he was questioned in connection with Money Laundering offences as recent as in April of this year.

Further investigations are currently ongoing into the matter.
