JAMAICA OBSERVER: A Roman Catholic priest accused of raping and abducting a 12-year-old girl at his church premises in St Catherine is expected to be formally charged in the coming days.

OBSERVER ONLINE understands that the incident reportedly happened last March but was not reported until last month. The child is said to have been a member of the church for several years.

The priest was reportedly pointed out by the child during an Identification Parade on Monday. He is expected to be charged with sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years, sexual touching of a child, grievous sexual assault and abduction of a child under 16 years.

According to reports, the priest allegedly took the child to his house after service where he sexually assaulted her. It is further alleged that about two weeks later, the priest fondled the child’s rear.

On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the matter was reported to the police, and an investigation launched. The priest was subsequently placed on the ID parade, where he was pointed out.

  1. @ Brixtonian. Incidents like these have been going on for centuries. The shame of it , in this modern era, is that people, sometimes even the parents, would never believe the child. Why? Because the black man following this region that’s not theirs, always believe that everything done in the name of the blond haired, blue-eyed saviour is right and must not be talked about. Let’s follow this one. See where it leads or ends.

  2. Why are the Roman Catholic & Seventh Day churches always involved in these types of news? Yet they behave so wholly & righteous!!
