In a momentous celebration of rhythm, legacy, and global influence, the twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda is set to honour one of the Caribbean’s most electrifying musical pioneers — Dr. Christopher Rowe, popularly known as DJ SkinnyRich — at the 1st Annual Island Groove Awards on April 10th, 2025.

This prestigious recognition — the Global Impact Award — marks a historic milestone, as DJ SkinnyRich becomes the first Jamaican DJ to receive this coveted honour at the inaugural Island Groove Awards, part of the renowned Antigua Barbuda Global Music & Media Awards™ (ABGMA) Gala Festival.

But this is no ordinary accolade. It joins a growing constellation of international recognitions bestowed upon the St. Elizabeth native — including the U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award (2024) and the Indo-ASEAN Human Rights Council Award for Peace and Sustainable Development 2024. A certified Global Musical Peace Ambassador, DJ SkinnyRich also holds a Honoris Causa PhD in Music from Thames International University in France.

A Sonic Journey Across Continents

From spinning records at age 12 to headlining stages across France, Germany, Belgium’s Reggae Geel, the UK, Canada, Africa, and the Caribbean, DJ SkinnyRich has become a beat architect whose musical fingerprints are everywhere. And next on his radar? This Summer -the legendary Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, one of Europe’s largest reggae festivals.

What sets SkinnyRich apart isn’t just his genre-blending mastery or electrifying live sets — it’s his unwavering belief in music as a tool for peacebuilding and social transformation. Whether he’s commanding massive crowds or curating intimate, soul-stirring soundscapes, his message is clear: music can heal, unite, and elevate humanity.
