Prime Minister Gaston Browne says up to 150 condominium units from the Booby Alley redevelopment could be handed over to residents in the Point area by August.
Speaking on his weekly programme, he said the units are expected to be completed by May or June, followed by about two months of work to install landscaping and basic amenities.
Mr Browne urged residents, particularly those on the ground floor, to help maintain the surroundings and add greenery to the area.
He said the project replaces overcrowded and inadequate housing, recalling that the site previously held more than 100 chattel homes, some without proper sanitation. Initial scepticism from residents, he added, has since given way to support as the development takes shape.
The prime minister also outlined other projects, including a new cruise upland facility on Lower Newgate Street, expected to be completed within months.
In Barbuda, he said major investments are continuing, with a hotel development involving Robert De Niro due to open its first phase by the end of the year and welcome guests early next year.
On infrastructure, Mr Browne said resurfacing work on All Saints Road would begin shortly, led by the Public Works Department after delays from an overseas contractor.

I hope the Booby alley ppl are given the first choice to get a home
I look forward to the start of the all saints road project.
when these homes completed I suspect people will have trouble. but mine is already secured
looking forward to many more.
This may be a good idea in terms of housing but my prediction is this. It will become rundown and tremendously crime ridden. I pray proper care is used in assigning/renting/leasing/selling of these units. If not, you will officially have a ghetto/hood, if you haven’t already.
I hope the residence there will have proper line area to hang their clothes because it will not look nice to see clothes hanging all over out side of the building itself like all over the walls and so on just an observation.
Beyond the aesthetics of appearance, the most logical questions regarding the LOGISTICS OF THE MAINTENANCE…
While not being able to view the entire development these are still concerning…
A…WASTE MANAGEMENT (sewage and trash). In the first instance, a development of this magnitude in a community which lacks a major sewage system to be tied into, how with sewage be handled from 150 apartments, will it be handled by frequent pumping of the sewage storage facilities to avoid overflows into the surrounding areas?
The trash is much simpler but must be properly managed from recycling to bulk to regular household garbage.
Next is the potable water which will be needed to be supplied to the development. Due to the fact, that indoor plumbing is now in use from showers to laundry to flushing of the toilets this could require upwards of 3,000,000 (three million) gallons per day by using the very, very conservative number of 20 gallons per day per apartment. Where will this water be coming from and if the water is lacking and lapses, such things as the water pressure to the upper levels become inconsistent and can affect the plumbing fixtures???
Will the residents have to cart water up three or two flights or are elevators available and accessible?
Keeping up with the jones, from this picture, where are the air conditioning units? Is it central air throughout the entire development controlled by individual thermostats in the units or are there individual heat pumps and mini-splits for each apartment?
What of cooling of the hallways and public spaces?
Does the development come with a SOLAR FARM on the roof to offset the power usage and outages which are common place?
STRAIGHT TO THE PUBLIC SPACES…does it have such things as a courtyard, play area for children and green spaces for families or it’s back to the street corners to lime and hang out with friends?
It’s also a known fact, that overall maintenance and upkeep by the government is poor and lacking, so let’s hope that even under private management the MAINTENANCE will be LEVELED UP to the NEXT LEVEL and we won’t see what is happening with several large facilities owned by the government go into disrepair in short order.

@Ras Smood All excellent points Sir. Let’s hope they implement something similar to a HOA. How did you come by that 3 mil figure for water though. It seems like you added 3 additional 0s.
@Right Winger you are correct about the additional zero’s. I was looking more at an annual figure.
Appreciate the correction though!
