IS IT TRUE COLUMN: Local Trade Government Official Embarrasses Antigua at SIDS4?

Is it true that a local trade government official caused an embarrassment for Antigua during the SIDS4 conference on Wednesday, May 29?

Is it true that this official refused to vacate a room booked for a high-ranking official, despite repeated requests?

Witnesses claim she adamantly refused, stating she didn’t care who the official was.

Despite other staff members urging her to show respect, she continued to say no in front of everyone, including foreign officials.

Is it true that security was alerted and asked her to leave the premises, but she reportedly refused again, raising her voice and asserting that no one could touch her?

The incident allegedly escalated to the point where another high-ranking official had to intervene, instructing her to leave to prevent further embarrassment. She was also allegedly told not to return.

However, it’s said that another official requested her return today.

Is it true that such behavior from government officials, who are supposed to represent Antigua with dignity, is being tolerated?

Should there be more accountability for such actions to prevent embarrassment on the international stage? How can such individuals continue to represent our beloved Antigua overseas after such incidents?

Y’all are so afraid of what white people and those from “big countries” think of us that you all are always shivering at the thought of any possible embarrassment as if those people don’t have their own problems.
