Police Commissioner, Atlee Rodney said he expects the homicide investigation into Bruce Greenaway’s death to conclude soon.
“I’m pretty much satisfied that the level of work that has been done, it’s not going to be a protracted time”, Rodney said during an interview on state media Sunday night.
The lifeless body of the Falmouth Resident was discovered at Indian Creek on April 13.
An autopsy later revealed he had died of strangulation.

“When we have a case of that magnitude and the seriousness of that case, as we have taken it, obviously we will be having discussions with the Director of Public Prosecutions as we move the process forward.
“So we’ll continue to gather all the information and all the other additional information that we might need for a case of that magnitude and then we will continue our dialogue and hopefully in the new week we will have another meeting with him and then can be in a position to make a final determination”
The Police Commissioner also reiterated a call for patience from members of the public and said investigators have been updating the victim’s family on the status of the investigation.
“As recent as yesterday [Saturday] there was conversation between the investigators and one of the family members we have spoken to them and we are continuing to explain to them where we are and where next we plan to go “, he said.
“It’s unfortunate that there a number of persons, maybe even on social media, has been running with it an exercising some level of impatience and all we are asking for is that it is a serious investigation and we want to do it properly”, he pleaded.
The Police Commissioner said “it doesn’t make sense to rush into an investigation or come to a conclusion and at the end of the day, you do not get that final justice that you want to get.
“ It is one thing to get a temporary satisfaction and everybody’s happy, well, we made an arrest and then at the end of the day, you do not have a proper investigation, you do not have a proper case to be presented if you are going down the criminal route”.
“Let us continue to work with the system that we have. If we are pursuing a criminal investigation, obviously we’ll be having dialogue with the Director of Public Prosecutions because at the end of the day, we investigate and he prosecutes so we will have that level of dialogue and come to a conclusion in due time”, Rodney added.
The Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force had conducted a preliminary investigation into the matter after social media reports said the man was last seen in the company ABDF officers.
The report from that investigation was not made public but has been handed over to police investigators.

Over 40 days and yet still the Comissioner of Police is trying to pull wool over our eyes. This man is talking in riddles like we are stupid. The autopsy showed that the man was beaten and strangled so why up now he cant even say that this is a murder case. Oh because Bruce Greenaway is a poor black man and his alleged killers are law enforcement officers. Wonder if the suspects were regular citizens would justice be delayed for so long. #justiceforbrucegreenaway #lockthemup
Calm down. This exactly what Mr. Rodney just explained. Let’s not settle for a temporary high in lieu of the truth and justice.
I call b*******. During the first few weeks for the lockdown the Commissioner of Police was quick to come and boast how many persons were arrested for breaking curfew. He was quick to boast about the quick arrest of the men who did the daylight robbery so why delay the arrest of the men who killed Bruce Greenaaay! Oh yeah cause police nah lub lock up police! #justiceforbruce #lockthemup
You’re such a fool…… same thing so many people made of the young girl’s disappearance….. hurrying the police to arrest people now the same man on bail…
The real people dont just want arrest, we want justice…. politics turning people blind
Cant you read or your problem is understanding? The investigation is ongoing and it must be done properly, the evidence is still sketchy and since I would be a murder investigation with 2 different law enforcement entities then surely it must take more time than an ordinary investigation……
CASE OF MAGNITUDE? NA-A-AH! -SIMPLE AND SOLVABLE CASE
More like ‘Investigative Ineptitude.’
From professional knowledge and experience a very ‘Simple and Solvable Case.’
Guided by these facts;
(i) …A State of Public Emergency in effect [CO: 1981: Section 20];
(ii) …A Curfew imposed [Eustace ‘Tiko’ Lake-led CBH Board;
(iii) …One of these power was to be imposed;
(a) …Emergency Power [CO: 1981: Section 17]; or the inapplicable
(b) …CBH Board’s Regulations [SI: No.27 of 2020];
(iv) …Deceased allegedly found in breach of Curfew time [12pm to 6 am: April 9, 2020];
(v) …Deceased reportedly detained by members of the Security Forces;
(vi) …Deceased reportedly taken to ‘Slipway’ Command Post;
(vii) …Records reflect no such detention, by whom or arrival;
(viii) …Questionable claims by Security Forces personnel that deceased was taken back to place of
…detention;
(ix) …Questionable claims that deceased was advised to go back home;
(x) …Deceased was never seen again;
(xi) …Deceased partially decomposed body found at Indian Creek Beach four days later [April 13, 2020];
Clearly, those to be questioned are the Members of the Security Forces;
(a) ‘… Those that detained; and
(b) …Those that took him back to place where he was reportedly first detained.’
A key question by the shrewd investigator is;
‘What justifiable reason/s influenced the release of the Decease back into the Curfew Time?
Now, with all these;
(i) …Facing a possible charge of ‘Murder/Manslaughter; and
(ii) …Staring a custodial sentence,’
‘…What dummy investigators would expect those;
(a) ‘…Responsible for his safety; and
(b) …Suspected of his disappearance and death’ would admit to such heinous criminal act.
From ‘practical investigative experience,’ never met a ‘Dummy Investigator’ yet.
Yes, Screw up ‘yuh darn face.’
Not writing a darn thing different.
…I need my seven iron, for about 150yds. The wind’s pretty calm.
Very strong, verbiage as in, “ineptitude!”
…somebody’s got, An attitude!
…somebody had, An Attitude!
…People, need to get, An Attitude!
Good aim, and shot Pompey! But, who’s, The Target?
The DPP…
The Commissioner…
The Investigator(s)…
The People…
Now, Pompey; hence, the reason why I made, and repeated a suggestion initially by John French II, to..
A… disband the Defense Force, formulate a National Coast Guard to do more Marine policing, surveillance and protections.
B…add some of the personnel to the Fire Department which should be separated from, the police(Law Enforcement).
C…use, the current resources for the Defense Force to help with Systems Development from a personnel, and equipment perspective to bolster both the Fire Department and the Police.
See what this case has caused?
In my opinion, the Investigation is probably stuck on, responsibility(s), as it pertains to act, which some to include you deemed, unconstitutional; and, eye witness testimony(s).
Will it be a Fall Guy(s), or an Open Confession?
NO AIM – NO SHOT AT ANYONE
Not at the stage for the intervention of the ‘DPP’ as yet. Blameless.
Buck always stops with the ‘Commissioner of Police.’
Should ‘identify and deploy’ the most competent investigators.
In whatever field of endeavor or choosing, ‘incompetence’ never makes anyone looks good.
Neither is ‘huffing or puffing.’
…could it be, that there are two(2) separate investigations occurring, simultaneously?
One by the RPFAB, and the other by the Defense Force, since, both agencies are involved?
This seems to akin to a Military Investigation, whereby, there rules may different, versus that, of the Police who’re guided by Civilian Law.
For, some reason, intuition tells me, that the Curfew Order which came through, the CBH Board of Health, and again, deemed ‘unconstitutional’ by some of those in the legal profession has a significant bearing on this investigation.
My. Pompey I love you.
Seems like Mr Commiss is taking his question from the cabinet.
The PM speaks
The Minister speaks
Then and only then the Commiss speaks
How can thos this be when the public has been demanding answers for more than a month.
See why the police gets very little coopera6from the public. The politicians are dictating to the police force.
NO MELLIE
Don’t think so.
No ‘muzzling’ and no ‘prompting.’
Anybody can think anything the fact is what matters…..
Not really the kinda talk you would expect from someone conducting a murder investigation. Sound more like he trying to soften up the blow for when dem say dem na know who do um.
Thats why more Antiguans need to be in police force Serving and not our caricom brothers and sisters, if we don’t care for Our own country people’s, who will ??read between the lines… don’t trust those foreign police there high profile killers.
