Source- Real News Antigua: An inquest has commenced into the deaths of the Canadian woman and her five-year-old son who apparently drowned during an outing at historic Devil’s Bridge last week.

Coroner Ngaio Emanuel and a six-member jury panel conducted the first stage of the probe into the deaths of Mahoni Misra, 37, and her son, Shray, at 8:36 a.m. on December 5, at Barnes Funeral Home.

Reportedly, the bodies were identified to the coroner and jurors by the husband of the deceased, Satwik Misra, who is a guest at Antigua Resort, formerly Verandah Resort.

Initial reports said there were no marks of violence on the child, but his mother bore marks on her hand and leg.

The inquest was adjourned without a date at 8:55 a.m., since a number of other things must first be completed, including a post mortem examination to determine the exact causes of death.

An inquest is a judicial inquiry in common-law jurisdictions and is usually held to determine whether a deceased person met with foul play; whether the death was an accident; or whether it was due to misadventure.

The Government has already offered assistance to the bereaved family and hopes to expedite the respective processes so the bodies can be flown home for burial.

The woman and her son reportedly drowned in a tragic incident at Devil’s Bridge while the family allegedly was taking photos of the sunrise on Thursday, November 30

The bodies of the victims were pulled from the waters by the Fire Brigade Search and Rescue Team, the Police ,and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard.

The family had arrived in Antigua on November 23 and were guests at the BNB Belfast Bay, in Seatons.

They were scheduled to leave Antigua at 4 p.m. on the day of the incident.

  1. I need to know if the lady was a swimmer? I need this to be answered to come to a conclusion on whether she would be comfortable standing tremendously close to the edge.

I need the same question answered for the child, and the child’s age.

I need his phone records, I need to know if he has been interacting with another woman. If he had other women (could be), it may not be relevant but with one other woman (feelings may be involve and could be motive). A person who kills to be with a woman does so to be with one specific woman, which means it is less likely that if he is having multiple women he would be motivated to kill, as the deep feelings and emotions may not exist to want to kill to be with a specific woman.

I need to know their length of marriage

I need to know insurance policy and details of will and rule dying intestacy (obviously husband would be in line of success)

I need to know if he has been to Antigua before

Has he been to Devil’s Bridge before

I need a list of places they have been visiting in Antigua on this trip and any previous trip

I need details of his financial situations now and estimates for the next 2 years.

I want to know who booked and paid for the tickets.

I want to know how the couple met

I want to know what kind of wounds are on the mother’s neck and hands. Was the neck wounds the kind that strangulation leaves? What kind of hand wounds, defensive?

Are their any marks on the husband?

If there are, does any of his mark or marks matches with the defensive marks of the wife?

Why are their no marks found of child?

Was child thrown into water only after mother was killed to leave no witness?

Was mother killed in the house and brought their and dumped and then child was thrown in unsuspectingly?

Has any officer investigated the place the couples live in to determine condition inside home for a fight?

Was this location a hotel or kind of property where their is room service and people constantly moving around or a simple rent house with isolation?

What vehicle was used and how is inside the vehicle?

How long was the body conveyed it was dead for at the time of recovering the bodies, especially that of the mother? Appreciating issues pertaining it being in cool water.

How is the victim behaving? Are their behavioral scientists around him when he is present with the police to determine whether is conduct is normal or abnormal based on the circumstances?

Are their any experts participating in this investigation with a Bachelors or masters degree and higher in vitally important and related field to get the best result from this investigation?

The big question is, has he say I love you to any kept woman. That is the pattern in a cases similar to what may or may not be here.

These are some of the questions that must be investigated for me to conclude whether this was a homicide or not.

Please provide me access to the investigation and materials from any investigation. I actually prefer performing my own investigations.

    • I concur wholeheartedly! With all the obvious dangerous signs, no mother would have her 5-year-old son remotely near the edge! I smell a dead rat!

    • @CHUBBLESUM,
That by itself would not be reasonable suspicion. Not to me. While I was in Antigua, as I have not been there for many years, I wanted to leave the house after 11am to go to the beach at late night because I wanted to experience bathing completely naked.

I believed it was beneficial for my health and frankly, it was something I promised myself I want to experience before I die.

Separate and apart, I also wanted to experience making love on the beach. That did not happen yet. I also wanted to experience late night camping on the beach and cooking around a fire on the beach in camping style.

I say that to say his conduct is not as unusual as mine, so if there was a murder that night I experienced my dream, late night naked swimming, would that be sufficient to conclude I participated in a murder? No.

I promise you that night, murder was not in or close to my mind. Experiencing something I dreamt about was. I also had a severe coughing and thought the naked bathing would do something or anything for me.

The questions I highlighted above are questions that must be investigated and hopefully find an answer to to determine reasonably what is most likely to have occurred.

My strange wants by itself are not enough, there must be a totality of the evidence and circumstances to come to a conclusion.

I do have a conclusion on what happen based on my initial inquire.

Based on the information I have so far, I would have to now label him a criminal suspect. That is only based on what I have. But I am still not okay doing so until I believe a full investigation was completed.

He should not be labeled a criminal suspect at this time while the investigation have a more thorough basis to rule so.

I prefer to err on the side of humanity and constitutional rights.

  2. Those are normal things that everyone wants to do. You didn’t want to take your 5 year old to the roughest coast on the island at 6am.

That is not to say your questions were irrelevant btw, but devil’s bridge is a place that either it is a safe time to cross or its not. You don’t get one big wave that comes and washes 2 people over the side by surprise, and why was he not crossing with them as protector.

I suspect he heard in Canadian news about the other Canadian tourist that drowned at Devil’s Bridge this year and hatch a plan.

  3. You’re all sick. This family is a beautiful family. The love they have for one another is pure. I know this because I’m very close friends with them. our sons and dogs played together.
My brother the other day informed me of the internet trolls. I couldn’t believe it myself reading comments.
I get it, you will judge. You don’t know them. I too also watch crime shows and follow people who cover stories as such.
But I’m here to tell you, there was no foul play. If you’ve read other articles as there are many, my friend was revived by people who saw him also floating in the water. None of them knew how to swim and he jumped in after them.
Please be more considerate and put yourself in their shoes.
