CABINET NOTES:

The Telephone/INET Manager reported that since 2018, the number of customers reliant upon APUA/INET has moved to more than 25,000, yielding revenues of more than $18,000,000 annually.

INET has been a success story, despite an attempt by a previous administration to end its existence.

The Fiber to Home network is proceeding steadily, the Cabinet was informed, with 21,000 of 43,000 households targeted for the change-over by December 2021.

  1. “…despite an attempt by a previous administration to end its existence”

A WHO DEMMA TARK – PLM or UPP or Harold Lovell???

    • Guess u never use FLOW or DIGICEL service cuz nobody tral hab more shitty service dan dem dey

  2. When you have a monopoly on home internet (fibre), what do you expect? Horrific pricing, and terrible service. Inet pay for cheap traffic routing, and during busy times, it’s faster to use a VPN, because Inet go really cheap, and charge a hefty premium.

  3. And the revenues would be higher if the government mandates that ALL the Statutory and State Owned Corporations and Governement Departments use solely AUPA Inet for all their Internet and Moblie phone services. It is sad when I see some are with Digicel or Flow and coughing up thousands of dollars monthly to them, while at the same time they cannot pay APUA for electricity and water.

  4. Revenue sounds low. Especially for that massive ACB loan. Are we sure that’s not profits? I thought inet was subsidizing the rest of APUA.

  5. All the Internet services in Antigua and Barbuda need a serious upgrade. They all have their good and bad days. I don’t know what fiber optic cable upgrade he is referring to because the service is still choppy at times. They started to run cable in my area and 🛑 never to return. The gray PVC pipes, with the ends duck-tape off, are pointing out of the ground. You can also see pipes along the airport roadways in that same conditions.

  6. Someone needs to take a look into these internet providers. They are digging out the eyes of poor nirga. Why are people being built in advance for internet not used as yet? This is not right.
