Independent Investigator To Probe Allegations Against Commissioner Robinson

Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodeny

Acting Top Cop, Atlee Rodney said the probe into allegations against Police Commissioner Wendel Robinson will be independently investigated.

Robinson has been suspended while allegations against him are investigated.

Rodney said, “I don’t know where the misinformation came from but it is not possible, it’s not legally correct, it’s not ethically correct that I would be acting in his position and at the same time investigating the matter against him”

“The normal procedure is that you would have an independent person to investigate a matter of that nature,” he told state media.

The Acting Commissioner said he would, however, have a say in choosing the investigator.

“We are still brainstorming and we’re still trying to identify a suitable and qualified person to handle this matter,” he said.

Yesterday, both the main opposition United Progressive Party and the new Democratic National Alliance called for an independent investigation after it was revealed that Rodney would lead the investigation.

  1. May I suggest that a team of 3 persons be selected to Cary out this independent investigation. Any former Ombusman, a former commissioner and a selection recommended by the Christian Council. A woman should be included to bring balance. Mrs. Lewis former Ombusman or Cassandra Simon is my female choice.

    • Keep the CC far away from this. They are a useless organisation. Why would a female bring balance? Why not just choose 3 reputable persons regardless of gender?

  2. The Christian Council is as spineless, meek and pliable as the Police Service Commission. This should be investigated by retired judges from the Eastern Caribbean Court system; who can come to the investigation without prejudice.
For the newly Acting Commissioner to say he don’t know where the information came from call into question his honesty and integrity. Not only he should have no say into who is appointed, but in my view he has shown he does not have the level of integrity to be made the Police Commissioner.
Given the severity of the matter, the entire top brass should be investigated

  3. @John Goodwin- finally someone post a comment that makes sense and not a hole heap of nastiness and name calling. The whole top brass of the force needs to be investigated not just one man. Furthermore the whole public sector need a shake up cause this habit of sexual harassment exits and no voices for the victims especially women but it goes unheard. This is only so publicized because of the person the allegations are being labelled against.
