This year, the Independence Food Fair will move from the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium parking lot to the outskirts due to ICC cricket matches.

Committee member Sherrie Ann Catton acknowledged vendor resistance to the change but expressed optimism about its success with teamwork.

To address complaints about finding vendors, an information booth and a new app, developed by Kwesi ‘DJ Crutches’ Jarvis, will launch on November 1st.

Vendors will select their stall numbers in a meeting today.

A new Kid Zone, with a supervised daycare option, will also be introduced.

The food fair will run from 8 am to 10 pm on Independence Day.

  1. Maybe in the future you might want to consider the Rising Sun Grounds – spacious, central, not a magnet for traffic accidents, accessible to ALL.
    Let all ideas contend!

  2. The kids zone should require parents to use id bracelets when they leave their children so we will be sure they pick up the right children

  3. Only now they know this? I am also surprised that the Ceremonial Parade is still happening at the stadium. How is the ICC allowing this when there will be an international cricket match WI vs England on the day before and the day after? Usually, the grounds have to be turned over to Cricket West Indies, the ICC representative, well before an international match. This shows a total lack of planning but nothing surprises me in this country where anything happens anytime.

  4. They knew over 1 year ago that cricket would be played there. Yet they waited until the 20 th hour to make the change.Typical of those we put into leadership positions. They no have damn foresight, not creative thinkers.

  5. Why don’t they just move the ceremonial parade back to the ARG and have the food fair on Independence Ave from the old Catholic Church to country pond . This way both events are more centralized and accessible to all
